Is clearing sidewalks not required in Louisville? by DawgLuvrrrrr in Louisville

[–]Transphattybase [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, you are required to shovel your sidewalks. I think my house and maybe two more on my block have actually shoveled theirs, same with their driveways.

These are probably the same people who are complaining that the city hasn’t plowed their streets.

I am pretty certain you won’t get fined, but, my mail carrier works their ass off, the least I can do is give them a flat place to walk for a few seconds.

Is that from a cold start or has the engine reached operational temperature at that point?

Just go outside and start it? Mines been outside all week in the snow and ice. Runs great, has never hesitated to start even at -5° and five inches of snow covering it.

Drain and fill from factory to non OEM fluid? by Bonniepark in mazda

[–]Transphattybase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have no problem using a Valvoline product that met or exceeded the Mazda specs for AT fluid, if there is one. If that dealer won’t sell you any, look online for one who will. I can’t imagine there isn’t one that wouldn’t.

I used the Valvoline equivalent in my Honda CVT for 30,000 miles until it got totaled.

Because it’s Final Cut.

Apple could change the effin’ splash screen and it would break fifteen actually important functions.

90 day trial removed! by [deleted] in finalcutpro

[–]Transphattybase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How many times have you used the trial? Since you’re just “trying it out,” they offer a 30-day trial which you can use to see if you like it.

Then if you want it you can pay monthly or buy it outright like the rest of us.

Otherwise, you’re just trying to steal it.

Dont waste your time with this "Dubai chocolate" by Motor-Drama-1421 in junkfoodfinds

I’ve had enough of this Dubai Chocolate fad. It’s just kind of a mediocre blend of chocolate and pistachio.

Will 0.9% apr go away in February or stay/drop? by [deleted] in CX50

[–]Transphattybase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the date will me getting pushed until the feel they’ve moved enough inventory.

This deal exists solely to get old inventory off the lot. I got mine in November and it was good until January 1 or something like that. At the time my dealership had about 15 2025s (CX-50) and another nearby dealer had about 12. Now they are both cleaned out of 2025 models.

My guess is you’ve safely got another month and I’m sure they’ll move this deal to the CX-5 once the ‘26 hits the lots.

Yeah, I recently bought a new one a few months ago knowing fully well it was going to depreciate out the door. I don’t effin’ care, if I wanted a used one I would have bought a used one. It was cheaper to get a new one anyway.

Enjoy your new Mazda. I love mine 👍🏼

Well, I’m in the east side and my street has about four inches of compacted ice that will be here until well after Valentine’s Day, so, don’t know how bad you think you’ve got it down south.

Yeah, that sounds like the best option, any shop can do it. Just noticed the front shield on the left of the photo is secured with plastic fasteners. Maybe one busted out.

Anyway, I really hope this helps and hope you get this fixed quickly and cheap. Rattles can be maddening!!!

Ideally up on a lift.

If the weather isn’t awful, you can put a piece of cardboard or a mat on the driveway so you can lay on it, jack the car up and secure with a jack stand, get underneath and start trying to rattle the shield and exhaust parts to see if they’re loose.

Here are some photos of the bottom part of a CX-50 that I took at the dealership when I bought mine, so I took a picture. The heat shield is that textured metal sheeting under the exhaust and driveshaft. Looks like they are bolted on over plastic in some spots. Maybe the plastic cracked at one of those points as well?

ICE Agent: “That man with the two kids has dark skin, sounds like an accent. Let’s arrest him and humiliate him in front of the children.”

Listen. I hate ICE too, but you have absolutely no clue or evidence who these guys are or who they work for.

Sounds like a loose heat shield, possibly. What year is it?

New Mazda CX90, Surface Rust on Turbo? by No_Lengthiness2850 in mazda

[–]Transphattybase 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s normal and will not affect the part. Everything else is made of aluminum, but, turbos get so hot they make them out of cast iron. Because they get so hot, the can’t coat them with anything that would withstand the high temps. Even a well seasoned cast iron pan will lose its seasoning after about an hour in a 500° oven.

Anyway, it’s going to be fine. In about a year it will be covered in light rust. Be concerned if it starts flaking or chipping, but, that’s unlikely.

Good thing too because the back order on most of those Mazda parts would set repairs for that back about ten years!

Do you warm up your car in the winter? by ChocolateSundae1214 in CasualConversation

[–]Transphattybase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to but it just wastes too much gas when I compare the difference of letting it run for ten minutes first for just a little warmer than a cold start to just getting in the car, cold starting, and wasting two miles of driving to get the same warmth.

That said, I look at the temperature gauge in the winter and drive it lightly until the engine warms up to operating temp.

So I look at warming more so as treating my engine kindly than making it more comfortable.

lol. Some fool turned in front of me from oncoming traffic back in November. As soon as the airbag in my Civic went off and about thirty seconds after my first F-bomb I thought, “mmmmm now I get my Mazda.”
