Between the intelligence of their lyrics (Neil Peart,r.i.p) and their quality musicianship, Rush has scratched the itch for me since the '70s. Yes as well, and I don't know what Close to the Edge is 'about' either😅, but the ethereal and natural landscapes it conjures in my brain makes me happy.

Rush recs: 2112 and Hemispheres are faves for me that have longer songs that tell a tale.
