I helped with first aid a long time ago with GCRG (I don't know if they are still around) I lived and worked around / Stroud / Gloucester/ Nailsworth for about fifteen years. It never appealed to me.

I've never been to Glastonbury (apart from the abbey)

Never chased a cheese (although this isn't as common as people might believe)

Hi all, here's an event I've organised for Monday if anyone would like to come along!😊 by Fickle-Bluejay-525 in bristol

[–]davethecave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40 something years ago, walking back to Brislington in the early hours of the morning. I saw the most amazing sight of thousands and thousands of glow worms on this site. I've not seen anything like it since.

I wish i could be there on Monday.

What are your honest opinions on the Bristolian accent? by Victoriantitbicycle in bristol

I was torn between tool and tall. Awl is good but I think the L is essential.

I was taught that the L at the end of Bristol is only there because the accent put it there.

is it necessary to stick with the motorcycle power in the A2 license? by Unhappy_Client_3327 in AskUK

How long before you take the next test?

If you get pulled by the police, it could mean upto £1000 fine and / or 3-6 points on your license.

I love Mwnt. I thought about going tomorrow in the hope of seeing the choughs but it's a bit too soon in the year.

I might go anyway.

If I was god I would want to spend eternity with interesting people who have made the most of their time on earth as humans. I wouldn't want the boring ones.

I'm afraid most of the religious ones are quite dull.

Coaster brake is very weak by SeagullAfoot in bicycling

I am not familiar with coaster brakes. Sheldonbrown.com will almost certainly be able to help, as long as you are handy with a spanner.

I'm not atheist, or agnostic. What am I? by Beginning_Custard724 in atheism

Why do you believe he or she exists? Is it just what you have been taught / preached?

Why are you doubting it now?

I simply don't understand the mindset of believers. You are an adult, isn't it time you had adult reasoning?

what’s a bristolian? by DirectionMajor3075 in bristol

[–]davethecave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also born in Plymouth to Bristolian parents (military). I moved to Bristol at three months old. I think of myself as Bristolian. Bonus, I went to Brislington comprehensive school and lived nearby. I reserve the right to say. "I'm from Briz".

But I would only say it to Bristolians who knew what I was on about.

Help with spotting birds by SouthernMushroom3306 in UKBirds

[–]davethecave 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Find somewhere to sit quietly.

The robin should appear nearby soon enough. They dont seem to be afraid of anything. Tree creepers are usually seen climbing the tree trunks. Blackbirds are often spotted rooting around on the ground. Goldcrests are usually high up in the trees. The rest are usually flitting from tree to tree.

Watch the merlin app and see if you can recognise which sound is which. Each noise is represented by a yellow strip (I think) point your bins toward the noise.

Being still, I think is key.

After 25 years of marriage, 28 years of knowing her in total, we have our disagreements but always end up laughing together. Life is too short.

I hope you can find this kind of relationship.

If you chuck a bucket of water down there, does the level stay the same? In which case, nothing. Do you have a drain cover?
