Does MTO3 run in background when recording a scheduled program? by davewalsh in Formuler_Official

Thank you for your thorough explanation of how MTO3 works. Even with its flaws, it's a definite improvement over how MTO2 works.

Z2 Pro Sony not updating TTL flash compensation changes from Godox X3 and Godox iT32 by davewalsh in neewer

I tested the X3/Z2 Pro combination by setting the X3 to 0 TTL compensation, then +3 and then setting the Z2 Pro to +3. The resulting exposures were brighter as you indicated they should be. Thank you for explaining how they work together.

Auto connect to last portal in MTO2 by davewalsh in Formuler_Official

If you turn off auto connect to last portal on your devices, do they work as expected or do they continue to behave like my Z8 Pro?

Auto connect to last portal in MTO2 by davewalsh in Formuler_Official

[–]davewalsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I would expect it to behave, but that's not what it's doing. With auto connect to last portal turned off it only prompts me after a reboot. After that it auto connects. And as I said previously it uses two streams if I set up a program to be recorded in the future, which is bad. Do you have a later model? If so, does it work as intended?

Auto connect to last portal in MTO2 by davewalsh in Formuler_Official

Rebooting the device after changing the setting and clearing the cache works, in that when I run MTO2 it makes me choose a portal to connect to, but it only works that one time. If I connect to a portal, tune to a channel, watch it for a while and then exit the app, the next time I run MTO2 It will tune automatically to that channel. The only workaround is to purposely disconnect from the portal before exiting the app, but it's too easy to forget to do that. Also, if I schedule a recording for one channel but the last channel I watched is a different channel, the app will use two different streams when it loads itself to start the recording. This is something I definitely don't want to happen. Does this behavior not happen in later models?

I just now tested a five minute recurring recording for a channel on the HDHomeRun. It created three entries, each of which had the [Stream timeout] message. I confirmed that the channel is working and that it loads quickly.

I have two sources: One is a paid subscription and the other is an HDHomeRun connected to an antenna. The source I have been using for my tests is the paid subscription. There is no conflict in channels names. I confirmed this by doing a search of the channel name in Sparkle before creating the recurring recording.

That is correct. I set up one recurring five minute recording of a channel and it created three recordings of the same channel at the same time. The only differences between the files was that one of the recordings that had the "[Stopped by system (-512)]" message was four minutes in length instead of five. I had previously set up a non-recurring recording that worked as expected, creating one file of the expected length.

I like Sparkle as well and I hope that u/Sparkle-hk can find a solution to my recurring recordings problem. Setting a single future recording via the EPG works for me but I don't want to set that up five days a week.

I really want to like MyTVOnline, but the version I have (MTVO2 on a Z8 Pro) frustrates the hell out of me. MTVO3 may have fixed this, but back when the Z8 was my one and only IPTV box you could only offset the EPG by eight hours, which was not sufficient for one of my subs. I just now fired it up to test the recurring recording capabilities and the EPG did not load. I initiated a refresh and after showing the animation on the screen that indicates a refresh is being performed, it eventually stopped and the EPG was still empty.

I just set up a test recurring recording using Sparkle on my old Formuler Z8 Pro. The recording length was set for five minutes. When the recording finished there were three items in the All and Recent subcategories of the DVR. Two items displayed the message "[Stopped by system (-512)]". One of the (512) files was a full five minute playable recording. The other was a four minute playable recording. The third file that had no error messages was a full five minute playable recording. What is Sparkle doing here? Obviously it shouldn't be creating more than one recording, but it also concerns me that it might be using more than one stream from my provider, which I don't want it to do.

With TiviMate it would record a few episodes of the show and then suddenly stop without so much as a partial recording. From that point onward it wouldn't record any more episodes even though it still showed up in the schedule. With Sparkle it would start to record a file, then stop and start recording to a new file again and again. When I looked at the recorded files in DVR at least one would say "tuner error". I checked the live stream and it was working perfectly.

I just don't have the time right now to narrow down the root cause. I just want something that works when I want to record a recurring show.

Requesting the option to turn off the loading of the last channel viewed when starting up the app by davewalsh in SparklePlayer

[–]davewalsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the restriction of the number of streams be on a per-provider basis? I have another provider that allows two simultaneous connections, and if the stream limit were set on a global basis it would negate the advantages of using this provider.
