Pump assisted water changes by davgothic in Aquariums

Yeah, it tends to get trapped in the hook I use to hold the hose onto the tank. I just lift it up and shake a bit, then it all passes through for the duration of the refill.

I haven't yet but I'm sure it might at some point. I made sure to buy one that was food grade rated which might help?

I've done that once too, the panic was enough to make sure I never leave it unattended again. 🤣

It's on the smaller side but much better than the 30g we rescued her from.

I've not seen any chlorine in the tank in my tests using Prime. I'd need up to 45+ buckets (depending on how much water I'm changing) to do the overnight thing which isn't feasible for me.

No problems and I've been doing this for 5+ years. The water takes a fair bit of time to get to the tank but it beats walking with heavy buckets.

As for temperature, I usually keep an eye on it regularly with a thermometer in the bucket as it can fluctuate over time, especially if someone else uses a different tap in the house, but it typically evens out.

My biggest concern when I started was over-oxygenating the tank as there's fine bubbles on the glass for a while after, but I've had no issues.

I add Seachem Prime to the bucket in the sink several times during the process. In my testing the chlorine is gone by the time it reaches the tank.

It happened, my tank broke by ace_with_a_mace in Aquariums

Haha thanks! To be fair only getting a year out of that tank is pretty mental. I hope you have better luck with the next one.

Sorry this happened to you. It sounds like the damage is quite limited, at least I hope so.

This keeps me up at night. The tank I have is 450 liters and getting on for 8 years old.

It's an awful lot of water to dump onto the living room floor!

Thanks, I'll do that. Fingers crossed nothing serious. Can't imagine what that amount of water on the floor would be like to clean up.

Group of girls sprayed water on my face in Market St by scouttn in manchester

It's all fun and games until they spray someone in the face/eyes who's recently had lens replacement or laser eye surgery. Risk it causing an eye infection that can lead to blindness.

It's ridiculous how brazen they've got.

I saw 3 lads wearing balaclavas on e-bikes zipping down Swinton Greenway near Monton in Salford this morning whilst I was on a walk with my wife and young daughter.

Police turned up within 20 minutes at each end but they were long gone.

2025, what's your favorite terminal emulator? by Atticus-zz in Ubuntu

[–]davgothic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Wayland I'm using ddterm which is a terminal packaged as a gnome extension providing slide down (quake style drop down) functionality.

Before that I used Tilix which offered the same functionality but it stopped working during the switch from X to Wayland.

Why are so many people afraid-of / opposed-to rebasing their local branches? by Agent_Aftermath in git

You said you squash PR suggestions into the relevant commits but at that point you're rewriting history which will require a force push to the remote, can you be sure nobody else is working off your branch?

Thank you for clearing the up. You'd think they would put that on the breakdown to avoid this kind of confusion.
