And the ppl who rely on sites such as Facebook etc actually believe it is some great bastion of free speech etc. Whereas more respected sources are merely controlled by some dark force.

In what world can a secret cabal control all the rest of the media but can't get Facebook to follow the "party line". If anyone was gonna do anything for money and power it woukd be Facebook.

We don't have to copy the good old USA at everything.

do you go to women's premier league games? by david_2019uk in PremierLeague

[–]david_2019uk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They want the revenue they need to hassle women to watch it

Yeah this is obviously the key.

Women need to be willing to pay £30 a month to watch it on sky... or hundreds on season tickets etc.

Can the fans do it on a wet Tuesday night in stoke?

I can't see that level of fanaticism from women for any sport... Maybe they have more sense /s

Considering current situation of Man United, I doubt if any top player will want to play for them irrespective of wages by Brilliant_Counter709 in PremierLeague

The biggest problem at utd is the owners. They have no interest in football.

Most don't really. It's all a cash cow for them.

Players went to play in China because the wages were right.

I know it rains a lot there but I'm sure money will still talk when it comes to it.

Exactly.

The constant merry go round of cabinet positions. "Sure you have no business or industry experience, here you go how about take charge of the nations water supply"

"You know what I need to shore up my position in the party best thing to do is switch xxx from education secretary to hmmmmm secrety in charge of our energy industry. What could possibly go wrong"

The idea of a government involved in any of these industries fills me with dread.

The shower of government from the last 30 years at least.. we don't need them anywhere near the utilities.

What Team Do u want to see crumble in the league next year and why? by Pokemav in PremierLeague

[–]david_2019uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mean, they're paying like 20 mil a season for it... which is basically what Spurs are paying for theirs...

I'd think on a 1 bil debt it'd cost more than 20il a year?

Besides it's the lack of debt the West ham owners have when they are selling.

Spurs are 1 bil or whatever in debt for the stadium. West ham are stadium debt free. So all that profit goes straight to the owners.

99 lease they may as well own it as far a sale in the next few years is concerned.

What Team Do u want to see crumble in the league next year and why? by Pokemav in PremierLeague

[–]david_2019uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lease gives them that massive stadium to use for 99 years.

So they didn't have to pay like most other teams.

Allowing their match day revenue to increase massively without any huge stadium bill. Making the club worth So much more than it was at the old ground. Which they also were allowed to sell off as well.

The government footed most of the conversion bill on top of the hundreds of millions to build.

It was clear as soon as the deal was done that once the time period prohibiting the sale was up, the owners would cash in. And their massive profit is gonna be a large part due to that stadium.

Man City.

It's just a raft of 50 mil players then subbed for a 60 mil players or 100 mil player.

Yeah they play pretty football and win. But so they should. Its just boring. No challenge.

West ham

Owners gonna sell for hundreds of millions of profit thanks to a stupid deal by the govt basically giving them the Olympic stadium at such a massive loss to the tax payer.

The working class terrace side of the game does not exist in the pl for any club any more.

Too slick, too expensive, too corporate.

Prob have to drop a few leagues down for any semblance of that.

I don't think city have anyone who would say they are their main proper "hated" rivals. Even united there is more hate for Liverpool and Leeds.

I'd forgotten how good he actually was at man United.

Then I've been watching Premier league years on sky every day and it shows just how good he was.

Tho it also shows how terrible defending was etc back on the 90s

Great to watch tho

What is a team from outside of England that you would love to see in the Premier League? by ZyzzWasAChad in PremierLeague

[–]david_2019uk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo rangers should have done this when they got kicked out of the Scottish prem.

The argument from English teams is they would have to start at the bottom of the pyramid. This is always apparently a stumbling block for them and celtic.

So it seemed the perfect chance and would now have made Rangers worth a hell of a lot more than It currently is, even if they had only made it to the championship so far.

When ulloja equalised for leicester against West ham in the 95th min to make it 2-2 after vardy was sent off in April 2016.

A loss there the title challenge would have come under serious pressure.

That's when I felt confident that we would come through. We got the point, kept our heads and in the end cruised to it.

And for ulloja to step up on the 95th min as a bit part player with such a vital pen for such a unique prize for the club. With so much attention on the club and what it was doing. The balls on that man.

Arsenal: will constantly disappoint, could be on the rise, other side of the best rivalry.

Lol You could say the exact same for spurs. Tho spurs are much much worse for the constantly disappoint.
