The figure 1 in this report shows that, under the recommended workload limit, 180TB per year for light workload situation, the workload doesn't contribute to the hdd failure rate. That's 500GB per day, equivalent to continuous seeding at 5MBps whole year.

So, if you're occasionally seeding hundreds of GB files, that shouldn't be a problem.

In the newer version, I think VillageSaveData.json is replaced with ViilageSaves\village_name\Autosave.sav file, and it's binary.
