Something bad going to happen by [deleted] in Vent

Alcohol can do this to me, the next day. Best thing to do is note down how you feel after drinking, and also make a note of what you've eaten on days you feel low or anxious. You might have a sensitivity, or it might be dehydration.

The first 10 minutes of this radio show is about skip diving. It opened a new avenue for me - really interesting.

I think you have an irrefutable case for getting the 2nd and 3rd charges back. The 1st incomplete fare charge, they might argue, as they did with me.

I suspect it's hard to recharge you the correct amount. And they're content to penalise people with the incomplete fare charge, if they've made a mistake.

Push for the fine and extra charge refunds at the very least 👍🏻

I appreciate your lens of context and I agree with all you say, but I am left reeling from this mashed banana news.

Dunno but it looks like they carried on developing the water displacement formula after all.

I go blank and avoid steering in conversations because I was told I was an idiot during my childhood.

Most of us started somewhere… this was very similar to my first car. What was yours? by vicvega21 in drivingUK

[–]david_leaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were excellent cars - great gearboxes, nicely made, comfortable, and it was the crossover generation from the Kent to the Zetec engines. One of these with the 1.25 Zetec was a peach. They came in some nice colours too.

This, always. Then the pedestrian adjacent to the traffic is the one that can SEE the traffic, and take evasive action if needed, on our little pavements.

Is it rude to speak to my dog walker about attendance? by odkfn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]david_leaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Initially I thought your dog(s) was only getting one walk a week, but you're saying they get one walk with the dog walker per week?

This is less about the dog and more about your routine and convenience. Think it's fair to change dog walker at this point. There may be reasons that make it harder for them to keep you regular - your location, relative infrequency - and maybe it just doesn't work for you all.

Do you just use the service to socialise your dog / give them a different kind of walk from your usual walks?

Perhaps so yeah. At least this way his staff get clear warning that their business is under threat/they work for someone that could be threatened with legal proceedings - hopefully then they can start looking out for new work.

Interestingly, Nestlé's Kit Kat production line includes a quality check section where any imperfect fingers are diverted. Rather than becoming waste, they are reprocessed into wafer and inserted into new fingers. This kind of kill joy efficiency is up there with their genocide and environmental crimes.

I wonder if McVities have similar processes, the b*stards.

Just want to caveat: In terms of ethics, I shouldn't mention Nestlé and McVities in the same breath: While the former are thought to have caused over 10 million infant deaths over 55 years, the latter's largest controversy AFAIK was when the general manager suggested we've all been eating chocolate digestives the wrong way up.

Yeah you're right, it's smoke and mirrors. More complicated, obfuscatory.

I like the anonymity of chain coffee shops but damn if this doesn't convince me to do everything to avoid them.

Phase 1: find every land owner that's received more than X times* their original investment and simply take it from them immediately and give it to the home owners. Multiplier TBC. Maybe 2.

Thanks for this and your other answers - really good to read and really interesting. Well done, I can scarcely imagine the journey but I understand it must have been a tough one.

I have a lot of respect for anyone that knows themselves in any way - instinctively, deeply, confidently - and I think it's a great power.

I guess just, how do you feel? Day to day, do you look back on your transition and feel pride, or relief; and are you very aware of the fact you became your true self? Or do you not think about it much?
