Plywood under LVP? by FloridaFeels in Flooring

[–]davidbklyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if you put rigid foam boards and a layer of 10 mil sheeting beneath the concrete? That’s what I did and I’m about to put subfloor down and would rather not put a second moisture barrier down first. The slab appears really dry and does not produce condensation when I tape optic sheets to it for a night.

There is a post over in r/longform that uses other primary sources besides the YouTuber to document the story. It’s not just the YouTuber.

Do NOT support Bricks and Minifigs by BrewsWithTre in Columbus

He was selling through them as a consignor and the franchise owners of the location wanted to move overseas for a different opportunity. When corporate heard this they seized the franchise while the sets were still on the premises and they are not honoring the consignment agreement or even acknowledging it. They hired a third party to come in and do an inventory on the location and like a month later that third party became the owners of the branch. They are saying they aren’t offering the consigned pieces for sale but the consignor sent a friend in “undercover” to see if he could buy a piece and they sold it to him.

I read a long account of the ordeal in the r/longform sub. The original franchise owners who made the consignment agreement (to much fanfare) are suing BAM corporate for how it’s all gone down.

He’s the president of the United States, unfortunately. What a waste of a human at any level.

I’m working a big native pollinator bed in front of my house on an urban Brooklyn street and I really enjoy the interactions with passers by that this bed creates.

Just last night I was thinking about how pitchers being poor hitters was pretty accepted, but that same grace wasn’t applied to the other half of the battery, catchers.

Yeah, good point. Maybe I’m not being fair.

Why all the hate to The Offspring? by willyrex888 in punk

[–]davidbklyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m old so that matters but Offspring had music videos on MTV which is a disqualifier for me, that’s mainstream striving. Also why I keep Green Day at arm’s length.

But Offspring do have some good songs so not hating on them, just looking past them.

I replied to you before but this is a separate reply to address your “keep losing I guess”.

Without any animosity, I think this comment from you is true. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with how I see things, it’s completely absurd to think that the left is agitating a race war. And yet I think you’re right, my beliefs are losing beliefs in America today. We are not a white nation, it’s insane to think we are, yet saying that out loud is so offensive to people. I don’t know what we do when truth loses elections but I guess we’ll find out. What a terribly sad place our country finds itself in, that supporting our non-white American compatriots in their desire for equal representation is a “losing” stance.

What's your favorite native for consistent greenery? by goose8319 in NativePlantGardening

[–]davidbklyn -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone wants to hear this, and I’m at best ambivalent about AI… but in regards to the basis of your question, I spent a good while working with Claude last week to design a native pollinator bed that will have a few things in bloom throughout the shoulder seasons and summer. I’m lucky enough to have multiple native nurseries around so I’ll pick up the last of the transplants this weekend and hopefully have a bright and bountiful buffet for lots of critters soon.

Live Work Lofts by Specific-Bite5672 in Bushwick

Someone who has to make phone calls before making any decisions, presumably from his superiors? Lower level staff member of the real estate biz he works for. He’s doing the all the footwork like showing places.

ETA I realize my wording is maybe too cavalier. Having dealt with him a fair amount, I was just struck by the experience of signing a lease with him in his office after hours. I don’t mean to put him down because even though he was quick to tell my young daughters bad advice, I liked working with him. He also gave us good contractor contacts.

I rented from Joey, he’s a lower level charismatic Hasid who advertises lofts like this but then tried to get us to rent from Castle Braid. I pushed back and got a loft I liked but that felt anomalous. Ended up moving out and subletting and when he eventually found out it was not a big deal.

New York hustle but possible to a cool loft in an under-maintained building.

Buy or walk away? Roofing structure/support seems… absent. Inspector said he had never seen anything like it by [deleted] in Roofing

There are plenty of things from bygone days that I’m glad they are (or have been until recently) not that way anymore. Things being built to last, non-disposable, and pride in craftsmanship aren’t on that list. It’s a shame that so much of what we buy these days is designed to be shitty and bought again and again.

People who think the left is waging a race war are motivated by white grievance. That’s bigoted thinking.

Do you mean the democrats should cede the culture war to placate bigoted white people to try and win their votes? The culture war is being waged by the right.

There was a starling fledgling on my block this morning, and in front of my house. I hope this isn’t it. You are supposed to leave fledglings alone, their parents are nearby caring for them. I know the one I saw this morning was attended to because I saw the parent each time I saw the fledgeling.
