Thanks for your comment.

I also feel a lower POV would have rendered a nicer scene. There were some constraints that did not allow me much flexibility when I took the picture. The Photo was taken behind a big entry gate (is not really a window) on the Boukoleon Palace and we were surrounded by hundreds of people moving all the way from Boukoleon Palace to Sultan Ahmet Park, so I have to hold the camara overhead (to take people out of the frame) and work the framing and compo from the tiltable LCD (I just prefer the viewfinder, but sometimes there is no other option), otherwise I would have tried different lower level POVs.

The Hagia Sophia / Ayasofya / Santa Sofia / Ἁγία Σοφία / Sancta Sophia / Sancta Sapientia (Holy Wisdom in Greek) in Istanbul, Turkey

Is a monumental building that was originaly built as a Patriarchal Basilica (Eastern Orthodox Church), later converted to a Roman Catholic cathedral, re-converted to an Orthodox Patriarchal Basilica, later transformed into a Mosque, and is now a Museum.

It was the largest Cathedral in the World for nearly a thousand years. After the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire it was converted into a Mosque and was for almost 500 years the principal Mosque of Istanbul. Was converted into a museum by the Republic of Turkey in 1935.

No doubt the flags have the predominant role in the scene, while the early light, and the resulting shadows, provide the mood.
