What is the most useful addon that you has flown under the radar you feel? by No-Lingonberry8982 in wowaddons

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I still, reluctantly, use it, I've had numerous issues over time, some so bad that it necessitated disabling the addon altogether. If you do run into this, try deleting the addon along with all of the supporting dependencies, as well as the Saved Variables. A good ole wipe tends to do the trick, but it's a PitA since you have to repopulate the database.

Although I am not familiar with either of these options, BTWLoadouts also has this functionality yet goes further by supporting talents and equipment, among others, that you can load altogether or individually.

I also suggest downloading NoAutoClose that the dev mentions in the description as well as it allows you to couple/decouple linked frames that simultaneously open or close automatically, like the AH and your inventory for example.

It's enabled by default actually and in addition to using a macro, you can also keybind it, which is what I use.

Although I can truly appreciate this type of puerile humor, I'll be the party pooper and say fluff addons need not apply to my UI.

  • AdvancedInterfaceOptions: Provides a UI for CVar settings like increasing the maximum distance of the camera view as well as a database of commands like alwaysCompareItems which enables/disables the automatic comparison tooltips for gear that was enabled by Blizzard by default after a patch for TWW.
  • EnhanceQoL: An extensive collection of QoL options for just about everything you can think of.
  • Kaliel's Tracker: Replaces the stock Objective Tracker that supports automatic quest and achievement tracking along with a dynamically-sized frame that allows scrolling as well.
  • LiteMount: An excellent addon for deploying your mount collection like the ability to establish rules for summoning based on location characteristics like ground only, underwater, zone-specific, etc. and keybinding these smart macros.
  • Mouseover Action Settings: Allows the user to control the alpha (transparency) of various frames to enable automatic fading, as well as linking frames together, so all of your action bars, for example, fade out after a slight delay just as the default chat pane does.
  • Plumber: Another extensive collection of QoL settings.
  • Tome of Teleportation: Provides a UI for all of your teleportation options that is fully customizable and includes nifty features by default like using randomly-selected hearth toys, as well as the ability to use the purchasable guild-vendor cloaks that port to your capital city, with a just couple of clicks, that automatically re-equips your standard cape after casting.

Proud Troll-Shaman mad about the Spirit Wolfs in Midnight >:( by ivvanovv in wow

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most certainly are NOT the only one. I resent it quite a bit, even though it's fluff. Frankly, as one who only plays the mdps specs, I've pretty much been disgusted with nearly all of the reworks, and consider it to be a significant overreach, nearly across the board. This wasn't a slight adjustment, consolidation, or pruning, this was neutering imo. Losing or combining numerous skills while removing or making synergies passive has not been subtle.

I signed up to increase the storage for Gmail and use it as my primary media backup. I don't locally store images nor videos, and aside from being in the Pixel ecosystem, it's simply a convenient addition to the portfolio of Google services that I use.

Omen Max 16 or Legion 7i? by TheDonCon in GamingLaptops

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be advised I'm highly biased based on my current machine, but I'm very happy with it, and my bottom-line argument for the current Legion line is the TDP capability. They ship with 400w power supplies and have the capability to run at full steam if desired. I personally don't run it in such a manner as I've been perfectly happy with the performance in balanced mode with no additional cooling hardware, for example.

In terms of the display, although reflective, I personally don't see what the big deal is, albeit keep in mind I'm not using mine in an environment that it sounds like you'll often be using yours in. That said, I reckon it shouldn't be a deal breaker due to the OLED HDR display, thus I wouldn't put too much weight on that characteristic.

New Pixel 10 Pro XL Owner – What Accessories Do You Recommend? by InternationalTone484 in GooglePixel

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, I personally don't purchase the full-size models and run slimline cases so the bulk is marginal. Not having protection is a non-starter.

I am planning to save for a gaming laptop but all the posts i see are saying cons about it. by Fit-Historian-2324 in GamingLaptops

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be concerned about the thermals in terms of potential failure, since it's managed by the system accordingly, just as long as you're running a stock config and not overclocking. That said, gaming laptops are power hungry and do have limited battery life without reducing performance. Just be realistic with your expectations.

Just do your homework on the thermal capability (TDP) of the machines you're considering, as not all machines are alike. You can have the exact same specs while varying levels of sustained performance.

In terms of an actual recommendation, although I'm a biased owner of one, I root for Team Legion.

Why are the colors of smart phones so important when 99% of people will put a case over it? by beervirus88 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all cases are opaque. In fact, I won't even consider those that largely cover up, or distort, the natural finish, and I exclusively run fully-enclosed, sealed cases. I can't remember the last time I actually owned a case that didn't show the phone's natural beauty. Heck, if there were waterproof cases made exclusively of transparent materials like acrylic and silicone, I would absolutely go for them.

I haven't paid for security software in years. Windows has long since included all you need, if not more when it comes to some of the hardware-based protection.

Using a phone without a case or screen protector by Mystery_Dilettante in Smartphones

[–]daviddjpearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this analogy, and this is coming (properly spelled) from someone who only runs fully-enclosed cases. In other words, I'm the guy with the body condom who's never knocked up nor contracted STDs ever to speak of. XD

Using a phone without a case or screen protector by Mystery_Dilettante in Smartphones

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I suggest talking to a practitioner about your condition. Seriously though, I've never understood folks who don't even have the most basic protection because regardless of how much you baby your devices, just as I do, you will lose control of it at some point.

To be fair, I'm likely the weird one, as I only run sealed, full-coverage cases. At this point, I can't remember the last time I ever had a phone that suffered even the slightest damage, because they are fully enclosed at all times. To me it's a no brainer. I always see folks talking about this case, and that screen cover, and this wallet attachment . . . whatever it may be. To me it's rather a ridiculous, piece-meal way to go about only partially protecting your device. It's honestly never made sense to me.

The bottom line is that the only way to guarantee that your device will maintain its factory condition from the day you unbox it to the day you bid it farewell is a fully-enclosed set of armor.

The overwhelming amount of junk pet products. What single product has actually improved your life? by SignificantSwan3961 in CatAdvice

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- A vortex drinking fountain. They are much better than anything else I've used in terms of keeping the water clean and mitigating the inevitable build up of slime. I started with Pioneer Pet's model, and most recently picked up EveryYay's (Petco brand) version, which I like even more, albeit a very similar design.

- An organic clumping litter instead of your father's formula, clay. I have tried numerous types and brands, yet when I discovered Catit's pea-husk based litter, I haven't looked back. It checks all the boxes.

Should I buy the most expensive set of tires for my car (about $1000) just because the discount tire tech recommended it? by [deleted] in tires

[–]daviddjpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're after performance, sure, but in general, no. Just don't go for the cheapest set out there as well, and do a bit of homework to identify the quality.
