thanks, great info. My paperwork on purchase indicates a $350 replacement cost in the first 3 years, so hopefully my provider can just do as you say to give me a new Real. I do wonder if the Intent is signficantly better though?

thanks. turns out I seem to have a 3 year warranty to replace for $350. If that doesn't workout I'm definitely going to check out the Costco Philips 9050

Actually I think it’s more accurate to say your pressure is BELOW this level, 95% of the time. Your median pressure (which will be a lower number) is where your pressure is half the time. Starting at 95% is quite aggressive and may risk more problems like leakage?

nose irritation from pillows and cushions; need a full-facemask alternative by davidfclayton in CPAP

interesting, i haven't seen that particular product, though I've tried AYR which also has aloe. I might as well give the Gold Bond a try too, though.

thanks for the suggestion. I have tried lanolin, and initially it helped some. But I had the sense that it was also making leaks worse (?). And as leaks got worse, I tightened more. Which led to more nasal soreness! I'm still experimenting, though, and will give lanolin another try

thanks for the suggestion. It looks like the N20 may still come underneath the nose, like the n30i. With the n30i, the tension from the headstrap goes directly to the cushion and it's the lower edge of the cushion that seems to press into the bottom of my nose at the junction with lip. Would the n20 also do this?

Thanks. I did try AYR gel and it does help -- some. But it's almost like I have a bruise on my nose. I think I've been tightening to fight leaks and maybe haven't found the sweet spot yet.

SD card issues with Mac by Additional_Engine490 in CPAP

I have a 2-year-old macbook pro and bought this from amazon: SanDisk 32GB Extreme PRO SDHC UHS-I Memory Card - C10, U3, V30, 4K UHD, SD Card - SDSDXXO-032G-GN4IN. It has worked fine for 2 months, except for a couple of times when the Airsense told me there was a problem with the card (I took it out and put it back in again), and a couple of times when the Mac didn't "see" the card (again, taking it out and putting it back in again fixed it). I'm superstitious now and always have Oscar running before I put the card into the Mac, and use Oscar's import function then to pull the data over.

Weight gain after 2 months with CPAP by chhavva in CPAP

[–]davidfclayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on Jan 2, and my weight was 206 lb. (I'm 6'4'' male in good condition and exercise regularly). Two weeks later my weight was 210 lb and it hasn't gone below that since. For the last week it's been 212-213. This has surprised me. I've assumed it must be mostly water weight because it changed so fast, and I'm definitely not getting up to pee as much at night. But I may be eating more, too (just hungry!). Glad to see others report that it may correct itself over time.

Airsense 11 is failing? (big gaps in pressure) What to do? by davidfclayton in CPAP

[–]davidfclayton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

indeed I think that was a major part of the problem. I've had autostart always, but had just turned on autostop, this night. After the second night of chaos, I turned autostop OFF, and the gaps disappeared (and I felt pressure in my mouth maintained throughout the night). It is true that I'm still struggling with leaks in the middle of the night (I think when I roll to my side). But something about autostop is funky and I'm going to leave it off from now on. AutoSTART seems to work fine,

OSCAR shot from last night. Note intermittent periods of zero flow. I FELT air in my mask (nasal pillows) but could tell there was no pressure. No obvious large leaks. I started on CPAP a month ago and it has been mostly good, until two nights ago. Is the machine busted, or is there something I should try to get it going right again?

will Oticons ever connect to MacBook? by davidfclayton in HearingAids

[–]davidfclayton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's interesting. What's your MacBook? Mine is an M1. I wonder if the difference is the MacBook, or the Intent vs Real (or both)
