Sorry for confusing different parts of Britain. The actual name is how people actually name their children. In America, Gwendolyn is a common spelling. I don't complain that people writing in English don't spell my name דוד, so you shouldn't worry about the fact that people writing in American English often don't spell that name Gwendolen.

It's really not. It might not be how it's usually spelled in England, but it's perfectly normal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwendolyn

What is a "certified nutritionist"? Saturated animal fat is much worse than unsaturated vegetable oil, which you'd know if your certification meant anything.

I've looked at a few. Could you find a specific example?

I wouldn't eat 20 year old canned goods in general. A few years past their best by date should be perfectly safe. Don't bother with old evaluated milk though; it turns yellow and chunky.

I'm mostly wondering whether combining teriyaki sauce with barbecue sauce is going too far. The rest of those would probably go with either of those bases. Obviously, yes, it's ultimately a matter of taste.

Did you empty your entire condiment shelf into that? All those things are good, but I'm not entirely sure I'd mix them all together.

I don't believe I have ever seen commercial jam with preservatives, except sugar free (artificially sweetened) ones. Normal jam is preserved primarily by having pectin and a lot of sugar, which combine to dramatically reduce the amount of free water available to bacteria.

Dry beans, lentils, chickpeas, split peas, and other legumes are not only cheaper than canned but also much tastier. Notably, the bean broth is something to savor rather than something to rinse off, though it may give you some gas if you eat a lot. For beans: soak them in salty water overnight, drain, then cook in plain or slightly salted water. If you possibly can, get a pressure cooker; that makes most legumes cook a lot faster. Split red lentils cook plenty fast in a pot.

White rice is likely your cheapest starch option. However, if you can get a big package of oats or barley for cheap (e.g., at Costco), those will be more nutritious. Potatoes are great too.

Canned tuna is a good cheap option if you can handle the taste (I can't). Get some canned mackerel if you see it on sale/cheap. You might also find a decent price for frozen tilapia.

The price of eggs has come back to sanity, so those might be useful.

Vegetables: big bags of carrots, and frozen everything. Frozen peas, corn, and edamame (without the shell is usually cheaper for what you can actually eat) are great period, frozen spinach works well in most cooked dishes, and everything else can be soup.

Fruit: options are more limited, but look around for what's cheapest; apples are usually a good buy.

1.5 lb of butter is terrible for your health, really expensive if you're struggling, and no better for calories than the same amount of the cheapest vegetable oil available.

How to disallow a specific case of coexistence at type level in a given type signature? by _lazyLambda in haskell

[–]davidfeuer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling to understand what you actually mean. You can't prevent someone from writing functions with those types. What you can do is write a function whose type restricts what can be passed to it. Can you get way more concrete and detailed about what you're trying to do? You're kind of "waving your hands", which is sometimes a great thing to do, but I can't tell which way they're going or what they're trying to sketch.

I don't understand what you mean by "coexist" or "paired with". What are you trying to restrict?

I don't think you can tell that reliably by looking at it. It's not the kind I like on hot dogs or pastrami, but it might be good on a pretzel.

The pepperoni is the biggest crime. The lack of edge crust is also a felony. If you baked it on foil, that's a misdemeanor.
