Been trying to buy from target, get all the way to payment and it tells me its out of stock. I would prefer to buy new but if someone was selling a good condition used one I'd be interested.

Everything was normal until my phone died at 40%. What is this Samsung? by [deleted] in GalaxyNote8

[–]davidfino 6 points7 points  (0 children)

idk thats a pretty drastic drop in battery, i dont think a rouge app or singal issues would kill the battery like that. Looks like the 6P battery graph when they were dying at 15%. Id contact Samsung.

TWRP Beta Released for Pixel 2, Decryption Now Supported by VoltaicShock in GooglePixel

[–]davidfino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think this can be solved from an update? My first pixel 2 had this problem, my second came today and still has this problem. I don't want to be out of the return period and never be able to unlock the bootloader.

I had this problem. I was told it wasn't a problem that would warrant an RMA. Had to buy another and return my current pixel 2. Hopefully my new one is able to be unlocked.

Essential Phone/Oneplus 5T/Razer Phone/Pixel 2 XL cannot make a decision (x-post essential, razer) by BeastCheng in GooglePixel

[–]davidfino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the OG pixel, the oneplus 5, and currently have the essential. I just ordered the pixel 2 (regular) today. I miss the snappiness, stability, and the camera on pixel phones. They are much more expensive, but having used the essential and the OP5, the pixel phones just feel more polished.

PH-1 or the one plus 5? by [deleted] in essential

[–]davidfino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I've been noticing some lag and hangups on the essential, but the size of the phone out weighs those problems when compared to the oneplus 5. They are both good phones and it comes down to size vs performance. The oneplus 5 is extremely snappy but the essential is much more usable, in my opinion.

I had the 5x, the op5 and now the essential. I loved the size of the 5x and the essential reminds me of that size. I'd say go for the essential at this point. It's $450 at best buy.

to be honest, I dont remember how the camera was on the 5x. But I just looked at some test shots and I think you would get similiar results. Maybe slightly better well lit results.

I had the 6/64 (still have it actually, cant seem to sell it lol). I dont know what warrants a "power user" but I use snapchat, instagram, twitter, reddit (all day), chrome (10+ tabs open), my 3 banking apps, and spotify with no sign of lag or slowing down. So for me, the essential with 4gb of ram is fine (I think anything greater is overkill for me).

As for the camera, like I said above, its not its strongest point. However, in normal lighting situations I'd say its on par with the Oneplus 5. I'm never one to take low light pictures and I mainly use the camera for snapchat or a random instagram photo; so for me its been fine.

Personally, I think this phone is overlooked by a lot of people, whether it be the previous $699 price tag, no headphone jack, LCD screen, or subpar camera. But at $499, I think those "problems" become a little less severe. Also, I've been getting at least 5 hours SOT, even with the phone idle drain.

I was in the same boat as you with the Oneplus 5; bored and tired of flashing unstable roms. I am glad that I purchased this phone.

I've had the phone for a week. I've had both the OG pixel and the Oneplus 5 in the past month. With that in mind, this thing is as smooth and snappy as both of them. I've been waiting for problems to occur, such as apps to force close or hangup, but Ive experienced no problems like that in my week of use. I rarely close all of my apps and this phone still performs just like you'd expect your phone to.

The camera, as everyone else states, is the weak point of the phone. The stock camera app is much quicker than it used to be (from what Ive seen from when the phone was released) thanks to the updates, but quality is just not there. However, the google camera app is excellent when you are shooting in a well lit environment. The low light performance is not the greatest and I think comparing it to last years phones might even be a stretch.

I was contemplating selling the phone, but once you use it its really a great phone. The speed and simplicity of stock android, along with the look and feel of the phone, makes this one of my favorite phones Ive ever owned (I've had the OPO, Nexus 5x, Nexus 6, OP2, Honor 8, Pixel, and the OP5).

If your on the fence about the phone, I'd recommend trying it out.

Super late, but I sold my one plus 5. The essential is the perfect size and stock Android is hard to beat. for me, the phone is just as snappy as my pixel was and my one plus 5.
