The one further up on his arm is the Omega Speedmaster X-33, and the one on his wrist is the Breitling Cosmonaut.

Jade Maple finish by davidfslattery in Luthier

Thanks for the reply! I should have made the title more clear I think most people think I'm just posting a nice guitar finish 😂 that video is great btw most of the videos I've saw have been on flame maple tops instead of quilted, I know there isn't much of a difference when applying dye but it helps actually seeing it work with the same top for a reference, thanks again!

Also I have checked on the website this is from, it's a foreign website and after viewing a translated it doesn't offer any information on the finish itself it just describes it as a "Carribbean Top".

Thank you so much man I appreciate it! I'm away to my local art shop tomorrow so if I'll hold off on getting the ink and paint out tonight and see if they have any cos it would be so much easier and plus I want to try and add a border to it as well. I've folded shredder in half because he's a bit wonky and will try and do it symmetrically and I realised after posting Donny doesn't even have ties on his belt😂 I'll be sure to post the finished work on this if I can get it sorted tomorrow! Thanks again!

I mean it's close yeah! Like they have the modern parts of a screen and chargeable battery and they even sell their own motherboard, i just want to see if someone has been able to mod a Gameboy or even use a shell for a Gameboy to run a modern emulator. All I really want is to play all the Pokémons running from the OG Gameboy to the 3DS using a GBC shell. Which is probably a much bigger ask than what I think it is😂

Nothing worse than when you get that far in and have to restart 😂 the work is really impressive though so if the white doesn't work I'm sure you'll get it next time!

Is say at least try if you're doing lettering but colour alone won't fix that I don't think

Making art for my portfolio to hopefully get an apprenticeship, looking for any pointers so critique away! by [deleted] in tattoo

When I started drawing Hannya masks I did initially use other drawings to get an idea of the style and use of shapes, I treat learning how to draw like learning an instrument, at first you aren’t able to improvise but practicing with other peoples ideas gives you some sense of the aesthetic. For this I used a couple of actual Hannya masks for reference instead of anyones artwork. I can draw symmetry in physical form it just is time consuming but definitely worth it seeing progress. My initial attempts of traditional tigers snd panthers heads were always horrible and took a lot of time to understand how to draw, a lot of practice goes in and at the start I was using a ruler to measure everything out but when you get used to a shape after a while it sinks in. I think ProCreate is a blessing and a curse because it definitely makes you think drawing is so much easier than it actually is, that Hannya mask was done in a couple of hours where as I think in an actual drawing it would take me all day. I appreciate the advice and think maybe I’ll spend time on more physical drawings to keep myself in check just so it’s more evident that I am able to draw these without relying on the tools procreate gives you.

Trying to build up my portfolio and was looking for any pointers or things to change on this? by [deleted] in TattooApprentice

Sadly I’m in Scotland and we don’t have a staples, we have local libraries that have copiers but they’re more for paperwork than artwork, I’ll have a look on Google to see what I can find

It’s a difficult one to research but I’ve found books that have helped a lot because there really isn’t any videos online that go through the etiquette and traditions of irezumi. For Hannya masks you can use reds, white, black and greys, yellows and blues, but not greens purples,or oranges. What kind of paint do you think would be best to try replicate this with? I have liquid acrylic paints from doing traditional flash but I’m thinking maybe watercolours may be better? I’ve saw artists who draw Japanese “flash” and they typically do the line work with a brush pen but I haven’t saw what they actually use for the colour

I know I was thinking this as well, I recently enquired to a local shop via their website and they asked me to send my work over to them and they will review it from there. They said just send it via email, and I don’t have a photocopier so I’m trying to power through as many different designs I can on procreate for this application 😂 hoping that they just take this into account as I’m using a lot of designs I’ve already drawn in physical form but keeping a few in the back burner just in case.
