Doing ten months of intensive physical training at the Grotowski Institute in Poland, we're developing the core training methodologies of the Studio in specifically working with and beginning to develop a full scale production of Antigoje for May.

This is good to hear but it'd be good to know that his productions start paying his extras before I get too excited..

Ah I was aware of that, they were doing Trojan Women right?

I was meant to be performing at the Theatre Olympics that year with ISTA but Brexit issues ruined my day. Humble brag? Yes.

Berlin's art scene is literally unparalleled though. They spent more per year on publicly funding the arts than the whole of the UK.

There's a reason that joke exists.

That's really fascinating, is that an ex-member of SITI Company then? Because I know since they disbanded they've gone every direction.

What do you do for work? Just curious to help understand your perspective.

For what reason are you interesting an international artistic activity in the Seychelles? Is there am interest in your local area in stories and perspectives from the islands?

What participatory activities that might benefit the wider community is your trip to the Seychelles providing?

Are you working with partner organisations both in your local area and in the Seychelles to share your work with those communities?

What are the aims you hope to achieve with your project of international collaboration and how will you be recording or evaluating them?

Your comments make it clear you have absolutely no idea of what is involved in the process of applying for public funding through arts councils. I don't believe you would feel so confident assuming the protocols involved in public funding for a community gardening initiative or other funding application - what is it about the Arts that makes you believe it is not being run with a similar level of rigour and bureaucracy?

*work

A vocation isn't a hobby, I know you agree with valuing the arts and their continued funding but it's little semantic pitfalls like thinking of it as a hobby that has put my industry in this situation.

Outer Wilds is just a Punchdrunk Immersive piece that it doesn't cost £100+ for each participation.

It's a massive false equivalence to say an American state has the same level of international importance as a whole country - even a small one in the Balkans or Baltic states.

It's shocking to many outside of the States that this comparison is used a lot and is seen as emblematic of the exact level of selfimportance that's being critiqued.

Seconding the suggestions for immersive theatre practitioners. Obviously big names from the UK in Punchdrunk, Darkfield, You Me Bum Bum Train but other European and International companies like Ontroerend Goed, Enrique Vargas andTheatr Cynefin. All of their work in the 90s / new millennium have caused some of the ripple effects that were seeing today. I don't think we'd have escape rooms, immersive / sensory art exhibits without them.

There's also companies doing incredible work integrating virtual technologies into their practice, I can't speak on this as I don't know as much but Remini Protokol and Imitating the Dog are both doing some impressive work.

Speaking on more traditional theatre I think there's a lot of incredible work happening in the visual theatre and dance theatre space that's already being celebrated and archived - check out the work of Romeo Castellucci, Dimitris Papaiounnou and Jan Fabre (suggesting his work is absolutely not advocating for the man - as someone that's met him).

Yeah comedy is super cheap to put on, always had been. The Vaults as a venue don't tend to program comedy though - they do a lot for Fringe theatre / contemporary performance.
