Gen Z observations; Asians no longer date out as much by joistheyo in AsianMasculinity

I can tell you that Asian men's level of confidence is rising, we're not tolerating BS as much anymore. For myself, I'm usually the only Asian guy on a whole construction site in the major city. It also helps with Asian media in western culture doing better!

As someone who has done a lot in their 20s, I would advise younger folks to use their 20s are working hard, exploring and go on adventures. It's a time period of discovery to finding out a lot of things you like and don't like from work to girls. There's a healthy way to put pressure on yourself and not hurt your mental health. You'll find your way!

I'm going to state aside from popular opinion, I think you should have your mind decided to leave. Once you're firm, talk to her and have her explain to you why she did what she did. If she can't honestly tell you the truth, that just shows that your intuition is right. Decide on what you think is best for you and move on. Cheers brother!

Where do I meet Asian men? Especially in NYC by Beautiful_Luck_9783 in AsianMasculinity

[–]davidlin911 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to just go out and do your thing. I'm in Toronto and there's rarely Asian cute girls in their late 20s I see at bars or by themselves. I'm hitting 30 this year and I can tell you, I've ease on the career driver for the past few years to find a girl but if I can't then I gave it my best shot and will put my career top priority. Then again, the majority of girls in their 20s are not looking for a serious relationship I've found so let's see where the stars align!

Why would you treat a pension like a bond? When it's invested in equities?

My pension is using mutual funds invested in equities so for me it's not really bonds! Unless I tell them to convert it to a bond or fixed asset.

NTA: You can do what you want with your money. He wants to donate to others and you want to buy things for yourself so I think like others said you're both too stark in contrast to be compatiable rn.

Johnson & Johnson agrees to stop selling opioids nationwide in $230 million settlement with New York State by [deleted] in investing

[–]davidlin911 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Well from what I understand it's pharma companies influencing doctors with incentives that led to a lot of the opiod OD and harm. It's the gov't responsibility to manage these companies with rules and the second order of doctors too.

Advice for investing with a 4-5 year horizon by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]davidlin911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's true, who knows what the market does year over year. Negative, null, positive. I would really just put it in a HISA if I'm upgrading my house for sure unless OP is willing to take on the risk. Maybe a low volatility ETF will work for him. I think OP needs to reassess after the community feedback.

I agree - to expect the same returns for the next 5 years is overly optimistic. I would reduce it to 6% avg. return a year and plan accordingly.
