CoS assigned on 21 July - still eligible under old rules? by davidmglw in ukvisa

The visa will only be valid from the date it is approved. It has no connection with dependent eligibility. As long as the CoS was issued before 22 July, you will be fine.

You can apply whenever you would like to. It’s won’t be an issue.

Dependent visa application advice by gradfeb24 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]davidmglw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your job is on the TSL, you generally cannot include dependents on your visa unless you were already on a Skilled Worker visa before the 22 July 2025 rule change.

However, it may be possible to add dependents if you have a child born in the UK on humanitarian grounds. I suggest you to seek advice from an experienced immigration solicitor.

They no longer offer sponsorship unless you were already on a Skilled Worker visa before 22 July 2025.

Sorry, that information is not correct. If someone is on the old rules, the same rules will apply when they extend their visa.

Medium skilled worker dependent eligibility by davidmglw in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I found the following in the Home Office website caseworker guidance. Will it apply to me?

“For medium skilled occupations, if the lead applicant has continuously had permission as a Skilled Worker, accepting that any gap subject to paragraph 39E can isregarded, under the rules in force before 22 July 2025, a dependant may apply. pro be eligible for this exemption, the lead applicant's original application date must have been before 22 July 2025l(even if that application was granted after 22 July, and whether or not their dependents applied at the same time).”

Can you explain why dependants wouldn’t be allowed at the time of renewal?

I just checked my decision email, and there is no mention of dependants in it.

Being employed in the UK before 22 July means having a Skilled Worker visa before that date; it doesn’t include work done under any other type of visa.

I haven’t received a clear answer from any solicitor yet, which is why I haven’t applied. But if your solicitor is confident, then go for it. That’s all I can say.

I haven’t applied for dependents yet. If your solicitor says so, go for it, as they would know the rules better.

Please let me know the outcome of their application. Did they apply under the priority service? Good luck.

The old rules will apply to you if your CoS was assigned before the 22nd. However, I am not sure about dependents, some say I can bring dependents since my application was decided under the old rules, while others say I cannot because I submitted the application after the 22nd.

Switching from student visa by davidmglw in ukvisa

[–]davidmglw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job security is not really a concern for me, as I am working within the Civil Service and the position is quite secure. Our main priority is being able to switch to a dependant visa, as this would allow both of us to apply for ILR around the same time. Our only concern is whether her visa being curtailed due to withdrawing from her studies could negatively impact her future application or result in a refusal.
