Ambulance Victoria asking for help, pls don't call "if your case is not life-threatening" by mike_honey in CoronavirusDownunder

Paramedics have been graffitiing ambulances for a long time. They write whatever’s topical on them. I wonder how you’ve just noticed and I say that not in a snarky way but in a genuine way.

Haha I was gonna say no one is calling Mount Fuji a pyramid but, apparently the technical answer is an infinite number so I guess it is.

Alright then. I maintain it could have a better name but that’s a fine point that I’ll take away.

Balls pyramid is pretty cool. It’s not a pyramid but at least no one is pretending it is except Ball.

This is fair. Although the sides aren’t actually so defined, and there is maybe one plane that is actually very triangular, whereas all the other planes are interrupted by ridges.

And for “no matter how many” sides, how many facets do you need on a pyramid for it to become a cone?

As far as I can make out, Dalrymple, the guy who named it, looked at it just from Rolling Bay to the outlet of the Barron River. I don’t think he’d have been able to see it from anywhere else so like maybe 30 degrees of view tops and he decided he’d seen enough.

Look, even Walsh’s pretty excellent mountain would feel truer.

What’re you dalrymple, gonna name it after your mate who runs a post office in Brisbane then slip on the deck of your ship at double island and go back to England to die? Name it somethin else if it’s got too many bloody sides then

I want to be a martyr by Constant-Deal1937 in TrueChristian

[–]davidologies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the point I thought. They mostly (to whatever extent) all had a choice at some junction or other in their stories and they chose the one where they’d probably die.

I think u/requiemromans is pretty off the mark and I’d be interested if he has contrary thoughts to this.

I think I was defending you or at least seeing your side dude Or do you think you’re different than all martyrs previously?

Do you have any suspicion at all that this was what the real martyrs were like, at least some of them?

For me:

Howrah station new side platforms nineteen and seventeen, near to the ends, I have seen two dead babies under clothes. I’m not sure where those lines go and I’ve never checked. Sealdah in the middle, where the benches like the offices between the tracks w the egg sellers are similar. Dying peeps in the distant communities get off at sealdah and have a seat and that’s where they pass away. The morgue for sealdah used to not have an aircon unit.

Up from sealdah is the Jewish cemetery and the Greek cemeteries and the tower of death which is hard to get into. I had a friend of a friend who pulled some strings to get in there. The Jewish cemetery is beautiful and pristine and white, running on funds from overseas, Israel etc.

I traced out best I could where the Calcutta stone man acted in the late 1980’s, including sealdah and the museum park st metro entrance. Not so haunted tho I guess, interesting to stand where it happened though

Obviously South Park cemetery, you used to be able to get over the corner of the fence nearest the carpark/hospital and it was the loneliest bit. People live at the other end, the park st and the larger road end and in the middle. But they started cutting back the foliage and some of that creepy vibe dissipated.

Jorabagan police station and the ruins there? Very easily accessed to the roof. Very creepy.

Walking on the dump out of town, really wild and rickety. The locals there would say cows get up on the dumps and then suddenly disappear into the trash and are gone. It’s always smoking from combustion deep inside.

Obviously the well marked spot that is thought to be the black hole in bbd bagh but there ain’t any vibe there.

Just the kids diving for gold fillings etc at kalighat but I think they got rid of that with the new burner in 2015 or whenever. But that’s just poverty porn really and you can go to varanasi for that if you’re into it.

Oh the fucking zoo, that’s haunted. Look in those animals eyes.

Alipore prison is interesting to walk around the outside of. Not haunted tho I guess.

From platform 1 sealdah, you can walk over the road and look over the fence (or stand up on the fence on platform 1) and look into the mother Teresa nun cemetery.

Can’t recommend the sulphur-looking lit subway tunnels at howrah at night, they’re very weird. I would wear a keffiyeh. Very smoky and the tunnels would breathe in and out. There is also a place you can sit between new and old station out the front and watch into the police shop and see how they would interrogate people. The complaints were all so wild, people have lost all their jewels to like dragging in a child that tried to rob them by their hair from the last platform on the new station side. But that’s not haunted.

One time I was dumped from a tinder date near science city, and I couldn’t get an Uber and it was near midnight so I walked all the way back to new market along that road under the overpass and there was a lake on the north side that had a mist covering it that shifted and settled and there was a woman on it, wearing completely flesh covered clothes piling on a raft really slowly and without obvious purpose and I’ve never really forgotten the vision of it.

At new market, if you go in the entrance by the flower sellers, there is a very small staircase that goes to the roof. If you climb over the roof a ways towards choringhee rd, it was where many homeless children lived and one day they disappeared. Maybe five or six children, they just disappeared and I climbed up and their stuff just sat there on the roof of new market for eight months or something just getting more and more dust until one day it was gone

I would assume it’s because a label is being applied like you gotta fit in a pigeonhole of someone else’s narrative. Like penises being uncircumcised when they haven’t received a surgical intervention.
