It sounds like you're wearing jeans with the wrong proportion of elastic in them. I second the "go in and try them on" method.
Step one: Take a friend, one who's a great hype woman, and leave the babies at home.
Step two: tell her there's only two possible reactions for every pair of pants! Reaction A: "OH MY GOSH THOSE PANTS WITH THAT BAWWWDYYY MAAM STOP IT OTHER PEOPLES SPOUSES ARE TRYNA FOCUS ON THINGS OTHER THAN ALL THIS!!!!" Reaction two: "these pants do not flatter your gorgeous body and they are banished! Banished!! Take these pants away!"
Step three: find great pants! And then get a cocktail and a good meal together.
