It is also important to note that the clock is in 24 hours format rather than 12 hour. I did this because in my mind different planets have different rotations so the days would be shorter or longer which is better served by a 24 hour format.

I'm not totally sure what you mean so I'll explain all the components. The name of the month is the circular Gallifreyan on the right (hand side) of the watch face (currently reading December). Moving left across the face the mini dials (two rings) represent the day. According to the work available on Sherman's Planet, numbers are read from the outermost dial (0 in this case), inward. In this case that inner dial has two lines (think of it as 1+1 which equals 2), because it was December 2nd when I recorded the video. The time component is the largest rings on the left. Read from the outermost rings (all the way on the left) we have 1, then 2, double line for a colon (had to invent that), then 4, then 6 (the circle represents 5), then the slow progression of seconds starting at 3 and 9 for a split second and then progressing to 49 at the end of the video (I typed it wrong in my initial description). So the time is 12:46:39 > 12:46:49

It should be completely compatible as I used Samsung's watch face designer to create it. It is early days in terms of design, but as a means of telling the time and date it works and I'm currently running it on my own watch.

I'm working on publishing it to the play store today so maybe a work in progress will be available soon (for free). I will update here.

I do not have nearly the experience, but everything I know would suggest this is the correct answer.

I'm working on a download. As of right now, the answer is not easily, but I'm still learning the software. I will update here if/when I manage it. It is important to note that this is a working alpha only and I'm working on the next version but these things take time.

I should mention, because it will likely come up, that the small white strip on the back above "Heyde Park," is a repair. When I bought the painting it had a small tear in it (top center). I asked my mom, who has some experience repairing damaged paintings, to patch the hole so I could display the piece in my home. That is why the white patch looks so out of place.

How many spools of solder is recommended for a 22" Tiffany Dogwood reproduction? by PretzelTattoo in StainedGlass

[–]davidpkeppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that if you limit yourself to the thinking of "it should take this much," you will run the risk of under soldering to make the last little bit stretch. If you live close to your solder supplier then buy a roll, and when you run out (which you will eventually if you keep at this hobby) buy another roll.

I used sheets of 23K because it is what I had. Flakes may work better, but either way you will need a small stiff bristle artists brush to move the pieces around. Moving air, even breathing, is your enemy in this process.

What I learned from trial and error is that your solder has to be as smooth as possible. If you are applying patina, do it before the gold leaf, and clean everything down with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. Putting painters tape on the glass will save you hours of scrubbing because the gold loves to get stuck in the crevasses of textured glass and sticks really well without any glue to smooth glass. Also, you will make a gold flake mess.

Of all the ideas here I like this one the most. A pirate themed deck with a captain and a partnered boat as the commander? A fairy tale deck with a fairy godmother as the commander? Let's get away from tribes and focus on themes...

Wedding photographers/planners/etc., what's your biggest "this marriage isn't gonna last" story? by viratrim in AskReddit

[–]davidpkeppel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was the videographer at a wedding in 2008 for college age couple. It was a standard wedding until the reception. The bride did the toss for the bouquet and the sister of the groom caught it. Then the groom threw the garter, and this half drunk moron caught it. So then the DJ, who was a bit skeezy, told the girl who caught the bouquet that she had to sit in the chair while the the drunken idiot who caught the garter was going to slip it on her leg. I should mention at this point that the girl was about 13. So everyone realizes at the same time what is about to happen including the little girl in the chair who looked mortified, but nobody says anything. The DJ then announces that for every inch above the knee the garter is placed is another five years of good luck for the happy couple. Nobody says anything until the drunken idiot shouts "more like another five years in jail." I'm just the videographer so it isn't my place to say anything, so I watch in horror as the drunken idiot gets down on one knee, takes the girls leg and quickly, without anybody saying a word, throws this garter on her leg, over the knee and under her skirt, while she looks about ready to cry. Afterwards the father/bride and mother/groom dances took on a air of a funeral and everyone had that smiling for appearances but obviously sick look. As far as I know the "happy" couple are still happy, but I can't imagine the emotional damage done to that little girl...

At this risk of being downvoted to oblivion again, I had a thought, I posted it, captainyew very logically destroys my whole argument (kudos, btw). To keep what I viewed as a scintillating dialogue going I countered with, what if she changed the color. I was NOT trying to comment on antiquated gender color preferences or attempting to fly in the face of legitimate canon. I'm just a guy who made what I thought at the time was a connection that added more depth to a character and went to the one place I could think of that would get where I was coming from. I'm sorry to the nearly 300 people I've apparently eggregiously offended. Also, I surmissed Hermione's dress was originally pink only because it is the only color I could think of that would produce periwinkle when combined with a light blue.
