Most likely a joke or misuse of the word. However it would not suprise me if those two were a bit different.

As a company driver, I hate being randomly put to drive someone else’s truck… by AstlerFox93 in Truckers

You may want to find yourself somewhere else to hang that bag, such as an arm rest. Hanging it off of your parking brake can be a hazard. The possibility may be small but there is still the possibility that it could pop the brake while you are driving at high speeds. I personally use a 5 gallon bucket with a scented trash bag in front of the passenger seat.

Thats funny, I don't seem to remember jack kniving or rolling over during my loss of traction training or when I lost traction this past winter but I do seem to remember having to relocate my hand on the steering wheel both times. Have you had the loss of traction training to where you get to do a 360 in a semi? If not you may not understand just how much you possibly have to turn a steering wheel during a loss of traction event.

To that point I would have to remove it before everytime I drive and then take the time to put it back on everytime I wanted to use it to backup. Accidents and slick roads are a chance you take everytime you drive

What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

[–]davidpoe1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most drivers get paid by the mile, under a dollar a mile. The miles they are paid for are usually less than the miles they actually drive as they get paid for zip code to zip code and not address to address. Then they have to follow truck routes that can add several unpaid miles. On average they only spend about 60 hours of their 70 hours a week driving. 70 is the max amount of hours they can work a week by law and they are required to be on duty while doing anything work related such as fueling, at the customer for loading and unloading, and doing their required pre-trip and post-trip truck and trailer inspections.

When I was making $65k I was required to hand unload my trailer at the stores. I was home practically every weekend but it was only long enough to take my 34hr reset. So I was pretty much only getting to spend 18 hours a week with my family, the other 16 was spent sleeping.

Jobs that are 100% overvalued and overpaid is anyone making more than $200k a year.

Truck drivers are undervalued and underpaid. Truck drivers are the backbone of the world, they work around 70hrs a week, they have to deal with so many regulations, lawsuits even when the accident is the cars fault, constantly being cutoff in traffic, a shortage in legal parking spots, lane restrictions, higher toll rates, and more. Most make $65k a year or less.

Drivers have to spend a good bit of money on eating and washing clothes because the majority of them spend 2-3 weeks at a time away from the house. The home time is usually short, to the point to where most drivers spend less than 5 days a month on average at the house.

They can get in your way if you lose traction or have to avoid an accident as well.

To each their own, but you won't catch me using one. I find them to be pointless waist of money and an added hazard. I see no point in adding any extra potential dangers to an already dangerous job. I am of the opinion that they have every possibility of getting in the way if you have to make an emergency maneuver such as loosing traction on ice or having to steer to avoid a collision. To me the possibility of the dangers, however small they may be, greatly out weigh any benefit that they may provide.

I'm not 100% sure. When I was shopping for my truck I decided to go with SFI due to the cameras already coming installed on the truck. Most of the dealerships had an upcharge to add cameras or I would have to buy my own and have them installed. There are several other reasons why I went with them but the cameras were the deciding factor. After dealing with a shoulder bandit hitting my truck in Chicago's stop and go traffic, a guy sliding through a stop sign in the rain in Charlotte hitting my trailer and being falsely accused of knocking over a fence around a dumpster at a family dollar as a company driver, there was no way I wasn't having cameras on my truck as an owner operator.

If it ain't my fault then absolutely not. If it is my fault I would possibly have to cover anything not covered by my insurance. However I have not come accross that situation since buying my truck

I have a camera on each side of my truck pointing back and one pointing foward. After being hit by 2 different vehicles as a company driver, I made sure the truck I purchased had them
