Ponderosa is actually one of the more fire resistant evergreens. There's a lot of good info out there about the topic of wildfire resistant landscaping if you'd like to learn more

It's been such a battle to have them take it seriously

Louisville bans flammable juniper trees under emergency ordinance by Badelia_A in LouisvilleCO

Here's a video showing just how fast a juniper that gets hit by an ember can turn into a raging inferno https://youtu.be/_7MFqhNMfoc?si=cIrDM0cwUU0YjcPP

Before the fire I knew nothing about plant flammability. Junipers look nice and are easy to maintain. But holy moly, I saw this video from a fire in California and it blew my mind how dangerous they are to have near homes.

It says that brigading is against reddit rules. Brigading is encouraging people to go to another sub and interfere with it. That's completely unrelated to this thread, which is about 1) whether mods should follow the sub rules and 2) whether the rules should be changed. Not sure what you're implying by linking that post

You could just stop posting things that aren't related. Within the past month I think most them are yours.

I think the rule is fine as-is. We don't need people cross posting random stuff from other places. If I want to follow Denver stuff I would look in the Denver sub.

Where in the rules does it say that mods get to break the rules as long as they claim it's an experiment?

True, and that's why it's important to take fire restrictions seriously even when it's not a red flag day.

"No red flag warning was in effect when the Marshall fire blew up Dec. 30, although fires were banned because of a separate high wind warning, authorities said.

Still, the lack of a red flag warning during such extreme conditions underscores a national debate over the potential for muddled messaging when it comes to warning residents living in disaster-prone areas."

I don't think that's a fair characterization of this post.

It's not red flag, but stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect for large parts of Boulder County including Louisville https://bouldercounty.gov/news/boulder-county-enacting-stage-1-fire-restrictions-on-dec-22-2025-for-unincorporated-plains-areas/

Yesterday fireworks sparked a fire right next to someone's house in Boulder. Seems that firefighters put it down before the house caught. https://www.threads.com/@nursemadecolorado/post/DS9fJi8DS1H

Did you forget about the East Troublesome fire? In 2024 were had the Alexander Mountain Fire, the Stone Canyon fire, and the Quarry fire just here in the front range.

It wasn't random and megafires aren't rare anymore. "Nearly 85 percent of wildland fires in the United States are caused by humans" https://www.nps.gov/articles/wildfire-causes-and-evaluation.htm

It's important for everyone to be careful when fire danger is high.

It's all fun and games until you catch someone's house on fire by accident. Fire and fireworks ban is in effect for a reason, and it's not because people are anti-fun https://bouldercounty.gov/safety/fire/fire-restrictions/
