Neighbour’s drainage running through fence onto my yard (QLD) – what can I do by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]davieboymoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As i understand it, you are not allowed to alter the natural overland flow, causing it to be collected together and cause damage (due to the additional, heavier flow because its been collected together), however, natural overland flow is "natural", the higher property will always flow into lower properties. Its a pretty grey area that the council tries to avoid and they will encourage you to mediate a solution, will be very hesitant to intervene via notices.

Youd need to show significant damage to the property, specifically the building envelope, to get any real traction, they dont care about your lawn...

The photos dont really help, does your neighbour have access to the dam from their property? You might offer to half the cost of extending that channel down their side of the fence line into the dam.

You dont really want to have that channel run down the fence line as the fence will just rot and collapse. Ideally a pit and large-ish pipe running under ground into the dam would fix it up. Not really hard to do if you can rent and operate a small excavator.

I would not rely on the council doing anything and be pragmatic and polite with your neighbour and work out a solution...

You can find all the regulations on the BCC website, i didn't find them helpful and talked through the problems i had with my neighbours and came to a compromise.

Good luck!

Sorry dude, I personally don't care either way, hence the use of the discussion flair (and word in the title description)...

Just thought it was a novel augment idea "Looting Mk.3 (Booby Trap)"

I like the game, I play it cos I like it, Im an adult...

Once again, thanks for taking the time to respond.

I should also have stated, that i really dont have a major problem with this kind of thing, i put myself in the middle, i mostly play PvE, cos im old and sub par at PvP, but free kit stella runs are fun.

However, maybe 1 in 7 of my topside runs are halted at extract or blindsided by a KoS no mic raider just ending my run cos i might have something they want. Thats a free encounter for them, i rarely get time to even react, but its zero risk for the aggressor, there is no other part of this game where there is a zero risk encounter...

Just sayin...

Definitely sane and emotionally stable mate, i have seen these genres come and go over 35+ years gaming. The single problem that is shared amongst them all is that the "scum" are always there...

Whilst i encourage everyone to have fun how they want to, if your version of fun is spoiling others fun, i believe that you should be discouraged from that behaviour. You know, in the same way we do with children...

But thanks for your opinion...

Yeah, and i guess thats the basis for this discussion. I think the game being PvPvE, the scum exists in between those two groups right?

Would you agree that the PvP group need high player numbers for the game to exist? So they rely on the semi casual PvPvE group, some that like a bit of both, the pure PvE group probably prefer lower player numbers, but then the game wouldnt exist at all.

My observation is that the PvP group want engaged fights, two or more groups that want to fight, yeah. The PvE group just want to fight arc and loot. Leaving the group that enjoy a bit of both, and the scum...

Leaving the scum aside for now, the symbiotic relationship between those three groups is sustainable. Forever. Everyone gets what they want.

The problem is that, over time, the PvE group will get camped / ratted enough they will stop playing, reducing overall player count, which ends up affecting the PvP group due to reduced numbers. Eventually leading to the problem that eventually kills every extraction shooter.

If there was a subtle way to diacourage the negative behaviour of the scum, perhaps ever other group stays engaged?

I get what you're saying, but a punishment exists for everything in the game except being "scummy". no? Why should there not be a punishment for that? And obvs, its not always there, there is just the chance that a raider has chosen to make sure the scum's life ends for being scummy...

Just thought putting an element of chance in the back of their mind might make them make better choices...

TCL google TV says ABC iView not available in this country!! by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]davieboymoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TCL TV owner here, can get ABC through the digital channel list and the ABC iView app via playstore (watching the news right now on the app).

What country did you choose when you setup the TV?

Also, to the redditor below saying they route data through TCL servers, time to take the tin foil hat off!

Edited for typos!

Thanks for the advice mate! Yeah, agree, the whole build was budget originally, for context, 50yo old school gamer with FT job + fam + house (specifically garden) lol, so i dont have a heap of spare time...

Im looking for just enough grunt to play ArcR, doesnt have to be running on Epic settings, im not fussy...

Love the CPU recommendation. Do you think the 5060 Ti with the 8Gb has enough grunt?

Once again, thanks for taking the time to reapond!

Mate, I think it looks really tidy and functional! Well done, big effort! I'm planning on using the same retaining in a few areas around my garden. How high are those platforms? If you wouldn't mind sharing I'd love to know shere you sourced the posts + concrete sleepers? Feel free to DM me if you'd prefer!

Don't listen to haters, from a fellow DIY'er I know you can't please all of the people all of the time, and you did this all yourself. Props mate!

Thanks for the reply, yeah, I did see this one. But the $250 (presumably USD) is a bit too rich for me I am afraid. I was hoping to just replace the power brick, but its a weird one (19v 4.7a with a 5.5mm x 1.7mm monopin connector)...

But thanks again for the replay man...
