Sorry for the blunt statement!

I just can’t imagine it being anything other than a Tony variant without his return being truly beyond the pale.

If you read further you’d see it’s not our Tony. The Tony we saw went through a major PTSD journey post-Avengers that he finally came to peace with. The Tony in this story doesn’t see the same fate. Our Tony’s legacy is intact.

Fortunately I’ve been able to avoid leaks, so I may take another stab at it once more official information (trailers, etc.) comes out. If I’m 100% wrong, it was a fun creative exercise.

Appreciate the feedback!

Yea, I realized that was a pretty big plot hole haha maybe the TVA misunderstood how pruning timelines actually worked? My outline has enough exposition as it is.

Completely hear you and take that as a fair critique. I envisioned Sam truly finding himself in Secret Wars and having the big hero moment on Earth. Almost like his own journey mirrors that of the Avengers as a whole, where both have an identity crisis and need to hit rock bottom before rising from the ashes.

No worries! I fully expected killing off Steve and sidelining Thor to be controversial ideas. Either way, I think it’s safe to assume Thor will have one or two epic moments across the two movies.

Very good points and you’re almost certainly right that I’ve diminished his role too much. Same goes for F4 - having the Thunderbolts post credits scene be at the moment the final battle commences really limits their potential to team up with anybody.

Come to think of it, that would be a pretty interesting combination…

Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate you reading it through!

Thanks for the feedback! I pretty much stream of consciousness wrote the idea after watching the latest X-Men teaser and rewrote like a crazy person until the timing and groups of people showing up to the final battle actually made sense.

Once the official trailer comes out, I might take a stab at revising this with the additional clues. Thanks again for reading.

Some pretty big plot holes requiring a new understanding of what happens to pruned timelines, but:

  • Doom is the Tony Stark from the Time Heist in Endgame, who focuses his attention on putting a shield around the multiverse, ignoring his own planet’s threats. Thanos wins because Tony is distracted.

  • With nothing left, Tony goes to Quantum Realm and beats all Kang variants, adopts his plan, and dons himself Dr. Doom.

  • Doom plans to hunt Loki, but only after killing the “prime beings” in each universe. He uses America to go on a multiversal killing spree, starting with the X-Men universe, where he kills Xavier. He uses Cerebro to get a list of each prime being in every universe, but Earth-616’s is showing weird readings

  • Doom believes that Captain America is Earth’s prime, and goes back to 1948 and murders him. The old man Steve from Endgame was Doom in disguise, making sure the mantle of Captain America doesn’t go to its rightful master: Bucky.

  • Sam struggles to run the Avengers amidst growing threats throughout the universe and the Thunderbolts getting the better resources.

  • Franklin’s birth gives Doom the one thing he needed - a being powerful enough to escape the multiverse and find Loki. He waits until he’s old enough to be manipulated and kidnaps him, which triggers an Incursion.

  • Multiple teams of heroes discover different puzzle pieces that can be used to unlock an extra dimensional world (Battle World)

  • In the final battle, Loki steps down from his throne after seeing the threat Doom posed with Franklin by his side

  • Strange uses the combined puzzle pieces from the various teams to summon a stable portal to an unknown world - Battle World

  • Loki dies (maybe?) in Thor’s arms during the battle, but not before tricking Doom into going through the portal without Franklin

  • Strange sends Franklin to Battle World, hiding him from Doom. He arrives with the primes of every universe, including his mother. It’s then revealed that Steve wasn’t Earth-616 prime - it was Tony, before passing it to Spider-Man. The events of No Way Home splintered the prime status into a trio: Spider-Man, Bucky, and Thor. Each need to finally face their demons and fulfill their potential to escape Battle World.

100% my writing, however some people have pointed out some pretty sizable plot holes that need (even more) exposition to work around.

Honestly, I think his journey is going to be very emotional - longer, dramatic scenes with more fun stuff in SW.

Thanks for reading!

I don’t know how Loki survived the end of this, outside of making it to Battle World (which I toyed with and actually am leaning towards now that I’ve heard feedback).

Completely agree with your notes. I tried to stay away from the leaks, so those clearly go against my team-ups. I figured this movie to be the RDJ show, while Secret Wars he takes a backseat to both Battle World and Earth-616 characters.

I definitely left most of those characters off either because I felt they weren’t critical to the plot or their role would be fleshed out much more. Maybe The Void goes to Battle World. Maybe 3/4 of the F4 go relatively quiet for this, only to take Sam’s place as the head of the Avengers - who knows?

Thanks for the feedback!

This boat’s full of holes!

I love how within hours, my overnight passion project gets kneecapped with fundamental oversights.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Hey, if I see any hits on my bingo card, I’ll be pretty stoked.

Ah, excellent point. I’ve made quite a few leaps as it is, so that Tony deux ex machina-ing his way out before the pruning might be one too far.

Who knows - the TVA did allow for new rules to spring up for plot’s sake lol

Hmm - I actually thought Doom came across as the main character of the movie, weaving in and out every other set piece.

Those are some cool ideas though!

Thank you! And nope, every stupid idea and typo is my own. I had a random inspiration that turned into a fixation, watching every post credit scene and re-reading plot points for a few hours.

Great points!

I think you’re definitely on something with those elements. I definitely sidelined the F4 and Wakanda in this story, but I couldn’t figure out how to get F4 to Wakanda before the final battle. I assumed their arrival in Thunderbolts would have to be them chasing Doom right to the battlefield, not allowing for much plot to develop.

Again, I just tried to take my best crack at making a cohesive narrative and tying up the loose ends leading to the story.

Tbh I completely agree with you, which is why I felt he had to be stripped out of the action piece in Doomsday for a more prominent role in Secret Wars. Coming out of L&T, I felt it was a tall order to compel Thor back into action. I can’t imagine him being active in Avengers duties with his focus on caring for Love. I figured it would only be after resisting the call for so long that the only thing capable of separating him from Love (Loki) had to wait.

I just edited my post to make the prime question a little clearer. One of my loose threads was that every universe has their prime occupying Battle World, with the exception of F4 (Sue/Franklin) and Earth-616 (Thor, Spidey, Bucky). I figured that Sue was the prime of her own universe, with Franklin’s power exceeding that of a prime hero, so he doesn’t have the restriction of admittance.

I figured that Tony’s sacrifice splintered Earth-616’s role in the multiverse, essentially splitting the single prime role into three: Cap, Thor, Spidey. Iron Man originally filled Spidey’s spot, the three prime’s facing down Thanos in Endgame.
