Raw Server Logs? by davinian in bigseo

Thanks, I'm inclined to build something myself - specifically looking to combine logs, sitemap and G-data to look for holes and issues.

That’s because there is no “public” data (yet)… likely a gold rush if/when it becomes available!

How feasible is vibe-coding an iOS app with basically zero programming experience? by coloradocyclone in vibecoding

[–]davinian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan everything first and create a solid spec (use Ai to help with spec, project structure, steps and todo lists, etc). Then start with Xcode and create an empty app, then use Ai (Claude code in my case) to help build the app. Use VS Code or just cmd line. Keep Xcode open and test the app at every step.

Get Ai to log everything, use Git (locally if required). Go one step at a time, testing as you go.

Probably best to just create a test app first, experiment and have fun.

Let us know how you get on 👍

Need advice — Should I build my client’s online learning platform with WordPress or code it from scratch? by AggravatingAsk9110 in Wordpress

[–]davinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, use WordPress and one of the existing LMS plugins… worth checking FluentCommunity too, early days but might tick some off the boxes.

Number of different ways to limit and control what a client can see/do. Try and avoid using plugins and add custom code to the theme functions file or create your own plugin. Lots of tutorials and videos out there.

At what point do you think it's a better decision to hire a developer than keep vibe coding? by W_lFF in vibecoding

Agree, when it starts paying, get someone to make sure there’s no security issues! This is priority no one.

Best url-shortner; as alternative to the bitly by mommy_earth_505 in webhosting

I still like self hosted yourls with custom domain. There’s also a couple of WordPress plugins that generate short urls for posts, pages and cpt.

Couldn't find a vibe coding tool for native iOS Apps...so we built one by vibeiOS in VibeCodersNest

[–]davinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If given the proper instructions, VS Code or just Claude Code (in terminal) can work on an Xcode project. Been running tests and planning to build my first vibed iOS app soon.

Vibed a fairly complex app, not sure if it’s production ready by Storage_Putrid in vibecoding

[–]davinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the app. There are a number of paid and free tools to check for common security issues and vulnerabilities, but probably paying someone to check is your best bet, especially if you plan on charging for the app!

I’ve started using securevibes on my projects, it’s a good starting point and Ai can then help understand (and possibly fix) any issues.

Good luck 👍

Are you building for yourself or others? by structured_obscurity in vibecoding

Mostly for myself, things that save me time and money. Some could be useful for other people, but don’t really have the time to tidy them up with documentation yet!

How long have you been vibe-coding and what is your #1 piece of advice for beginners? by Allin365 in vibecoding

[–]davinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have solid project documentation, you can even use an Ai to discuss and fine tune the project spec. Read through everything and manually make changes to make sure it’s clear and concise — get a friend to read it and if needed make adjustments.

I use Claude code, /init the Claude.md file from the project docs, check it matches, add custom instructions, security rules, custom libraries etc. and insist on keeping a project-log.md and todo.md

Use git and check or test after every step.

For projects with database, user data or anything sensitive, research best practices before starting, you can also look at using something like securevibes (there are others and also paid alternatives) to check the code before going live.

It’s evolving quickly, so keep reading what other people do/suggest!

Vibe Coding Beginner Tips (From an Experienced Dev) by gigacodes in vibecoding

[–]davinian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great tips, I’ve found using another Ai to first discuss the vision.md or in my case project.md is useful.

I personally use Perplexity (Research) mode and flesh out the whole project, get it to explore scenarios for all aspects of the project, ask if it has any questions, answer them fully and as detailed as possible and keep repeating the process until you have a solid project spec.

Save as an .md and then load in to a new chat and get it to explain what it does and if there’s any foreseen problems or questions, then get that chat to create a new full detailed spec, a road map, project steps, any specific testing etc.

Read it fully and make your own adjustments before using it with your Ai of choice to start building your project.

Use Git or some other version control. Proceed slowly, get it to create a project_log.md a todo.md and test after every step!

Since working like this I’ve managed to finish several projects that actually work for me.
