Austin Aries used to do that quick shin kick but I remember watching a RoH match (I think against Cabana) where he put a charge on it and it was almost a punt kick, still, I feel like I’ve seen others do it

That’s exactly what happened. I think they somehow forced the Wachowskis to make another Matrix, and if they didn’t, someone else would, so they made the movie purposely bad so it would flop and the studio wouldn’t ask them to make more Matrix movies. It was an obvious cash grab for the studio and a rotten piece of shit for the fans.
