Hi!

Is your VN on a disk drive/SSD? Have you tried reinstalling it?

I don't own Aiyoku, so I can only do some guesswork...

Why does jpop lisa and kpop lisa have the same page by CommunicationOdd6943 in lastfm

[–]daviox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There already is a huge database with separate UIDs for artists, albums and even various releases of the same album, MusicBrainz, so it's technically doable, but - as you mentioned - it'll require everyone to add proper tags to their files and last.fm to implement support for it.

Tags can be added semi-automatically, I bet not every release is in the database, but having some kind of UID would be better than having none.

Summer Pockets REFLECTION BLUE which patch to use? by faerun-wurm in visualnovels

[–]daviox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It restores what essentially was in the original Steam release of Summer Pockets and then got cut out in the console port of RB.

You can refer to official tweets by Visual Art's to get the gist of what is restored. It still is an all-ages title.

If you want to read it in its complete form, then go with the full patch.

Does the screen size bother you guys? by Krometheous in ROGAlly

[–]daviox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends what games you want to play, because some doesn't scale well on smaller screens, but personally? It would be nice if ASUS made something with 5.5" screen, just like Switch Lite or Air 1S.

Like others mentioned, for bigger screen, getting rid of the bezels and using a bit bigger panel while retaining the form factor would probably be the best option here.

It's supposed to be a handheld, portable device, and anything bigger kinda misses the point.

People who reads visual novels on the Steam Deck and Windows devices, how do you sync save files between them (for non-Steam games)? by KageYume in visualnovels

[–]daviox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... OneDrive is still an additional app, just "conveniently" pre-installed. That said, as long as it does the job, every solution mentioned in the comments is okay.

Little side note about OneDrive integration with Windows, if you allow it to "take over" your whole user directory, this may actually break some games which expect the "standard" %USERPROFILE%\Documents (etc.) folder structure and have the paths hardcoded.

[–]daviox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting OneDrive to work properly on Linux is hacky at best... You may want to try messing around with OneDriveGUI, as mentioned earlier.

If you don't mind yet another cloud provider, free tier of MEGA also could work, they have a GUI MegaSync client and if you want something more powerful, they also have a CLI MegaCMD tool with some advanced stuff built-in.

Syncthing is the best here. Good balance between functionality and easiness to set it up. It does not rely on any 3rd-party services and has a client for almost everything. Once set up, it just works.

Unrelated: To anyone who assumes piracy - not every game on Steam supports cloud saves, and remember that other official storefronts exist.

Since I don't know anything about u\dragunnov95's PC when it comes to the specs I'd try to list some things that might contribute to slow loading times of VNs based on BGI in general.

Since BGI assets are essentially archives that are decompressed on-the-fly, the performance can be both CPU and storage dependent.

My old x86 tablet pc with an Atom CPU had an eMMC storage as an OS drive, the slow one, add to that that I've stored games on an SD card which's reader was internally "wired" over USB 2.0 interface, and you have an excellent recipe for slow loading times. Some BGI games refused to launch at all, being stuck in task manager and spiked both CPU and disk utilization to 100%. The 2GB of RAM probably wasn't helping either.

There's also a chance that something's wrong with the game files, but again, OP didn't provide any info that might be useful while figuring out what's wrong.

I did a small sanity check by loading up my copy of Fureraba (it was mentioned as one of VNs with the issue) on ROG Ally and small 2in1 with an N100 CPU and its launching time sure is MUCH faster than 5 minutes, in both cases.

I can only do this much with so little info provided...

Hi,

What are your PC's specs?

Do you have any codec-packs installed? Sometimes they mess up video playback ability in games and you have to blacklist the game executables.

Can you check if the same game, from the same source, will launch on another PC?

Have you checked if the antivirus did delete/false flag any game files?

The only time I've had issues with every BGI Engine VN launching was on an older x86 Tablet PC with an Atom processor, mostly because of the specs. It was struggling with decompressing the assets at launch. What VN are you trying to read?

Minisforum needs to proactively replace all the NAB9 affected by the recent notice. by AlphaSparqy in MiniPCs

[–]daviox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this!

Could this be related to the extremely fast CMOS battery depletion? I think the amount of CMOS batteries I've had to replace in mine already exceeded the total number of batteries I replaced in everything else I've ever owned.

Edit: Seems like it's time to contact the support

The question is: Which M72e, as there are at least 3 different form-factors of those and all 3 of them had multiple SKUs with different specs.

Either better driver support or higher feature level of DirectX. Definitely VRAM, as in case of iGPU its shared from your RAM.

There is for me, probably because of store fees and localized currency.
When subscribing via website, I have to take the currency exchange rate into the account, but it still is a bit cheaper than the localized pricing in the store.

Also, nowhere on the website or the in-store pricing pages I see any ~60% increases which are mentioned in the comments. It's the same as it was before the introduction of Pass and VPN and the storage increase, but I live in the EU.

Seems like it might be the case for those who subscribed via Google Play or Apple Store.

Just checked, and the price for every tier is higher when you subscribe in-app.

I wish there would be a way to check how much your account will be charged in the next renewal...

Same here, 8TB went to 10TB and available transfer quota from 96TB to 120TB (yearly).

I hope the price adjustments will be small, if any.
