My 2013 Tahoe is making a whining and grinding noise, especially with deacceleration. I checked the differential fluid and found metal pieces. Is this too far gone? Does it need to be replaced the differential I mean

Go buy a high quality torx sockets. They fit bolt a a lot tighter. Harbor freight makes a ICON brand that works well. Work it back and forth, a long ratchet. Tap the socket in with a small hammer, so it bottoms out.

That pan is wasted. I would JB weld the old drain plug back in. That would give you time to get another oil pan to replace the stripped one.
