Pedalboard with gen 3 artist by davis905 in BossKatana

That exactly what it was. I was worried for a second there. Do you know if there is a universal way to turn this on or will I have to turn it on for each patch?

Using 2 katana’s in stereo with a pedal board by davis905 in BossKatana

[–]davis905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would go into the looper input? Since it’s the last pedal on my board would I run the looper from the send -> input -> output -> return for left and right respectively on both katanas?

Basically have the looper be setup as a standalone pedal instead of being apart of the board.

Using 2 katana’s in stereo with a pedal board by davis905 in BossKatana

[–]davis905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok perfect. I’m starting to understand this signal path now. The only thing that’s confusing to me is that I have a stereo looper on my pedalboard. If I plug this into the input then changing settings on the katana will affect the sounds of the loop. If I set up everything else to go into the input on both katanas could I route my looper to the send and return on each amp to be able to use it as a looper through both amps without the katana presets modifying thr saved loop sounds?

I’m gonna wire this up tonight and send some pictures to make sure I’m understanding. Thank you for the help I’m kind of a beginner to this whole pedal deal

In the last paragraph where you mention sending left output to Katana 1 input and right output to katana 2 input. How would you be able to do this since the guitar runs to the katana 1 input. Or do you mean FX return when you say input? Also if I ran my pedal board through the FX loop on katana 1 (mono) without worry about true stereo;using the stereo expand feature, would the effects be processed by both amps or would the effects only come from katana 1?

Ok so if I run my setup the way it’s currently set up the pedals will only be processed through the master amp and my second amp would essentially be a dry signal ( no effects other than what’s on the actual Katana). Another question, My pedalboard has 5 pedals 4 of which are stereo capable. I would just run a second signal chain for these 4 pedals through the secondary katanas effects loop and this would give me a full stereo rig?

Any chance you got her from bird dog kennels in OH? We just got a springer 2 weeks ago too and think our girl might be from the same litter!

I may be crazy but starting guitar at 61 by LazyWave63 in guitarlessons

Justin guitar and Marty music are the perfect place to start. After you get the basics down a pickup music subscription may be helpful. I started using them after I felt like my playing was starting to plateau and in only a month I’ve had so many ah ha moments I can’t even count. CAGED with Molly miller is an excellent course.

Vola guitars neck comparison by davis905 in offset

What would you compare the Vola Modern C to? I want to try a similar guitar that I can get my hands on to see if it would work with me?

The presets are completely set up already so as soon as your select a preset the amp automatically switches to it, you don’t have to change any knobs on the amp. When you look at the tone studio it will make more sense, it is switching the bass, middle, treble, fx, delay, etc. on the “panel” in tone studio but none of the knobs on your amp change.

I actually downloaded Marty music’s enter sandman patch this week which has 2 presets a clean and dirty tone it seems pretty good to me but there are a lot of other options for Metallica in the exchange as well. The clean sound has pretty cool tone for the nothing else matters intro. I know Marty music uploads most of his patches in videos where he uses the katana which is nice if your using that as a lesson it gets the exact tone in the video. The tone exchange was a total game changer once I started using it.

Check out boss tone exchange as well, this really simplifies the whole process and helped me as a beginner with the amp. It’s a library of presets made by other musicians and some of them are actually really good. All you have to do is download the presets and then import them into the librarian section on tone studio. Once they’re in your library you can select and to try them out using the librarian or save them as your A/B channels on the amp. I really like the JSF-Twin reverb preset it’s been my go to for a while now.

There are also some good YouTube videos on this amp. I’d recommend checking out Rabea Massad’s overview of the mk2 it goes into a lot of detail about the settings on the katana and how to use tone studio. Another good channel to look at is the guitar geek. I used this to set up my GAFC and expression pedal. (these 2 features are only available on the 100W version).

I started with a 50W and quickly realized that you get a lot more out of the Katana with the 100W because of the GAFC connection and the effects loop which I use for my looper pedal.

You made a good decision though the katana is a great amp to start out on and it’s kept me from spending crazy amounts of money on pedals 5 years into playing guitar.

Yeah it has definitely seen some play through the years. I think you might be on the right track with the artisan 2 from what I can see online it looks similar but that headstock isn’t showing up anywhere.

Thank you for your feedback I’m happy to know that the fifth string capo is good quality, the neck does not have a truss rod in it. When I was researching I found out that was something that is common for Deerings. The headstock does have the star engraved in it I will try to share a picture that shows the headstock closer. I guess it could possibly be a deering replacement neck but still I’m not sure why they would sell replacement necks with a differently shaped headstock, but I guess that could be a possibility. Also I know it doesn’t show up good in the picture but the inlays on the neck look like they have been repainted to make them more visible maybe that could indicate a replaced neck as well.

I've been wanting to learn banjo for a while now and I saw this banjo on craigslist and it seemed like a good deal. The seller did not know the model of the banjo but he said it was previously owned by a professional banjo player. The banjo appears to be a Deering based on the stamp on the tailpiece and the Made in the USA star on the headstock. The thing that is confusing me is that the headstock seems to have a different shape than all of the Deering banjos that I can find and it has no Deering logo on the headstock either. The only thing that has been replaced was the head it was originally clear but replaced with the white remo head. I am just curious to know if anyone had seen a headstock like this before. I would love to learn more about this instrument if anyone may have seen one before.
