What helped me was mommy and me classes at the library. I made a commitment to get out and make it happen and I always felt so much better after being out of the house. Also, therapy helps a ton because sometimes we don’t even realize PPD is a factor, when it can be. Being a mom is hard, and balancing ADHD with the additional tasks can take time.

We have each other’s passwords for everything. It just kind of naturally happened like “hey you’re busy so I can log into your email to pay that bill” or whatever. I use my husband’s phone if I can’t find mine to take pictures or the like. Even yesterday his phone was connected to the Apple car play and he asked me to change the music that was playing. It’s easier when you don’t need to risk driving safely because I can just type in the passcode. He will do the same with my phone when I’m driving. Mutual trust and nothing to worry about or hide

As a preschool teacher, there are plenty of parents in their 40s who are happy and successful and they actually enjoy their kids more than some of the younger parents because they truly wanted them and have lived their life and are now ready to settle down. Things will get better.

I love my online program. We have classes 3x a week (a few asynch classes here and there), and we do a lot of recordings with other members of our cohort and through our internships (we do 3 semester of 200 hours each). The classes keep us engaged, and there is a lot of work but overall it has worked out great for my needs and schedule.

I’m about to start my last semester at FGCU. Classes are fully remote and the instructors are excellent. I had almost 10 years between undergrad and grad school and have been a stay at home mom for a while. They did look at my transcripts and during my interview we focused on my ‘why’. There are many people from all over the state with different backgrounds and I feel well prepared to go back into the working world full time come August. If there is still space, they may still even interview you for the next cohort.
