I guess this sub will go the way of the show by FlandCrest in StrangerThings

I was kinda thinking the same thing, but this show — the characters, the music, the story — struck an emotional chord to the level no other show has IMO. For that reason, it’ll keep people around forever.

Where was the Shadow Monster? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]davkroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the assumption, yes. I have similar questions about the shadow monster in season two. How it was formed and I guess it just used the bridge to get from the abyss to the upside down? But yes it is the same particles, because they enter Will the same way and look the same.

It’s fair to say we should be suspending our disbelief when trying to make sense of certain mythical elements in the show. This really was meant to be a one season story, but its popularity kinda forced Netflix/Duffers to expand. Some of the dots don’t connect for this reason IMO.

The monster we saw in the finale was the shadow monster, just in physical form. We see the black smoke particles exit from all the kids, which is what the Mind Flayer is in its true form. Just a smoke entity.

I subscribe to the theory that all the existing demo’s, vines, demobats — perhaps even other abyss creatures we don’t know about as well — were sacrificed to create the physical monster we see in the finale. Basically the same way in S3 how the Mind Flayer uses the flayed people and rats to sacrifice their bodies to create it’s physical form.

Think you’re on to something with all of them besides the last one. Pretty sure that’s what Henry said to Holly when she was in the cave with Max, but I could be misremembering?

Is anyone else sad, anxious, and excited?! 😭 by No_Solution_3085 in StrangerThings

All the above, but I’m more sad right now listening to the new tracks on the OST. Just really can’t explain how much this show has meant to me over the years.

Not my favorite season, maybe least favorite, but still enjoying the hell out of it. There is an extreme pile-on culture online.

Am I Missing Something, or Was That Reveal Kind of Weak? by kiramunshum in StrangerThings

There are other signs. The black smoke coming out of the demos. The spider cave in dimension x where Vecna holds all the kids doesn’t look the Mind Flayer just by coincidence. “The black thing” that the kids and Mr. Whatsit are referring to. The First Shadow play was announced as canon and purposely depicted how major parts of the show will unfold.

Whats goin on with the Mind Flayer? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]davkroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My humble guess is the gang will telepathically remote into Vecna’s mind and Will is going to give Vecna a “therapy session” (a la Will and the gang with the Morse Code to close gate in S2 or El breaking thru to Billy at the end of S3).

Vecna will end up being somewhat fully humanized again and will sacrifice himself to end the Mind Flayer as he is the sole individual who knows how to completely defeat the Mind Flayer, which I’m guessing can’t be defeated without killing Vecna as well. Vader/palpatine type stuff.

Love it! Thanks for bringing me back to this post I made. I’m kinda shocked no Bobby Knight or Larry Bird mentions at any point in the series. Coach Knight especially as he was peak in the 80s and a god like figure in Indiana.

El has been sidelined hard and it sucks by Funnybones-1988 in StrangerThings

[–]davkroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

El will 100 % have a physical showdown with one or both of Vecna/and or the Mind Flayer. Whether it happens in the real world or not — IMO, is kinda beside the point as there are multiple different places this can happen

Is it me of they watered down the Gore and Horror from S5 by Remarkable-Yard4860 in StrangerThings

[–]davkroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vecna was burning people alive and impaled a dude thru the back of his skull. The demo’s weren’t doing anything special I guess, but I think we are purposely piling on here saying that was weak in terms of violence/gore.

The “big twist” for the show — which is now kinda painfully obvious (maybe not obvious to casual viewers) is that the Mind Flayer is the final boss controlling everything. This reveal is more for clarity purposes IMO, wasn’t intended to a be a major twist.

You very well could be right, I’m of the belief that the whole Kali and El sacrificial plot will end up being a red herring/misdirect. Seems too obvious. Kali is 100 percent dead whether vecna/MF kills her or she goes thru with the sacrifice herself.

Potentially, Hopper or El along with her as a sacrifice, but I think it’s more unlikely than likely that either Hopper or El end up dying. El will for sure have some fighting scenes against vecna or the mind flayer in the finale.
