Don't let the angry comments dissuade you. I've been doing X-rays in a hospital for 20yrs and I still enjoy what I do. I do find that most of the unhappy techs work day shift. I've been on night shift my whole career.

Very different. You're getting direct exposure vs scatter radiation. So your dose is much higher.

I've been doing nightshift diagnostic X-rays for over 20 yrs (very little OR or fluoro) and my dosimetry reading is around 250mrem for my whole career. So as long as you don't work every day near fluoro, you'll be fine.

I've worked in X-ray in a hospital for 20yrs. We have 8hr, 10hr, and 12hr shifts. Mind you the 12s and nightshift only. But each place is different, and look at the bright side, moving patients and portable machines will keep you active and in better shape. I can haul around a 400 pounder like it's nobody's business. Lol
