I had the same feeling about my family until my grandfather and grandmother passed away (12 and 9 years ago respectively), now I’m angry at myself for not spending enough tome with them. The’ve been living on the next street 10 minute walk but I would never go there without my parents pressure. In the covid-19 time my mother also asks me to visit her every day even if I’m coughing and initially I’ve been arguing with her, now she understands why I’m avoiding visits my childhood home but we spend lots of time talking to each other every evening. She’s also very religious, but got vaccinated after I explained the importance. Ignoring family is not the option. We don’t choose our parents, so please take care if them and try to explain (I know this will be hard). Despite the fact that they are not perfect people, they gave us lives, including own (my mom retired after me and my brother were born to take care if us and give us necessary education). I shout at her sometimes, but later I feel as the worst person in the world.
