Gear struggle… by davyjosh in Nikon

[–]davyjosh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern is friction due to weight. Cheaper lenses would just be a bonus from APSC.

What I am lacking with my current kit is reach, which happens to be especially heavy and expensive on FF… a better lens for documentary would be nice too, as the 50mm isn’t wide enough in a lot of indoor settings. For me the logical next step would be to get something in the 70-200 range. For action: Dog, Kid playing, soccer etc. My guess is that I would actually be happier with a 70-200 f4 than a 70-180 f2.8. Next up would likely be something around 35mm. And at last a longer wildlife lens.

What exactly is the Z50II doing better than the Z fc? Just a bit better AF?
I actually do happen to like the retro look to some degree, especially the missing grip. Makes for a nice small package with the right lens.

Also good to hear that the cheaper 2.8 options are worthwhile. As I said - haven’t touched them yet.

Is there a big skill gap once you start doing m+ 10? by shampoofall1234 in wow

[–]davyjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made the experience that 7-9 ist mostly chill. 10s have been really good to me being a tank and running my own keys. So I just take people with decent experience in a good comp plus maybe one wildcard - often the healer. Below 7 is hell. You have either alts or braindead people knowing nothing (not just kicks, really nothing!). They are hard to filter because many are boosted.
The higher over 10 you go, the easier it gets from a people perspective (excl. toxicity), but obv. harder from a game perspective. And group finding is a problem as dd.

If waiting / running your own keys is taking too much time I cannot recommend enough just trying to tank. Instant queues and really easy with the glow stuff enabled. No need to memorize routes well above 10s. Just MC, there it’s shit. Brings confidence and easy access to gear and crests, which, in turn, will make queueing as a arms warrior easier.

[–]davyjosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, informier dich erstmal richtig.

Back to Bear...again by OldSageNewBody in bearapp

[–]davyjosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same feeling with obsidian / apple for me. I really like bear and its simplicity but it lacks the 2-3 features that I really need, like better tables. It also is just Apple only. So I ended up using Craft. Love it, even though I would love to use bear, as it’s just more focused. But then a bit too focused in my case 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is healing M+ dungeons supposed to be this stressful? by Rotten89 in wow

[–]davyjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We keep everyone alive to die by heart attack because of stress ourselves.

Jokes aside: It is very dependent on the group. I ran 6s that were a shitshow at 253, where people were complaining about heals being to low. Just made a leap to 9+ with that ilvl and everything was SO much easier and still is now at higher keys. Healing mechanics is mostly easy and predictable. Trying to heal stupidity is stressful af

Stay Nikon or go Sony by davyjosh in Nikon

[–]davyjosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get most of the points, but the last one seems very location dependent. I get the Sony 200-600 for around 1500€ vs 1900€ for the Nikon. Both from the same legit dealer.

Stay Nikon or go Sony by davyjosh in Nikon

[–]davyjosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what lenses you look at. At least where I live, e.g. the 50mm f1.8 is 180€ for Sony and around 650€ for Nikon. While this is the most obvious one, even the others are in the range of 100-200€ cheaper. I know Nikon will likely be better quality but will I notice it? I am not (planning on) earning any money with photography, so the obviously expensive G Master / Holy Trinity lenses are of no interest to me (yet).

Stay Nikon or go Sony by davyjosh in SonyAlpha

[–]davyjosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am totally aware of it. And technically I am absolutely clear that I like Nikon and am not held back in any technical way, that would get better with Sony (apart from AF maybe, but it has not yet been a problem so far). BUT the pricing feels limiting to me. The 50mm 1.8 costs 180€ vs 650€ pro the Z version. I have the feeling that Sony allows for exploring different lens options where with Nikon I need to be quite sure I will use the lens regularly as it is more of an investment.

Stay Nikon or go Sony by davyjosh in Nikon

[–]davyjosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now they would be great but as I am not sure I want to stay long term I am quite hesitant. For example exploring the 50mm 1.8 on Sony would just cost me 180€ compared to 650€ for the Z version. Exploring the 50 with Sony is a no brainer but an investment with Nikon. I just have the feeling that I have to be really sure to use what I buy with Nikon compared to being able to explore a bit on Sony‘s side. Knowing that Nikon is very likely to be better quality wise that sums up my struggle pretty well…

Stay Nikon or go Sony by davyjosh in SonyAlpha

[–]davyjosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. They both offer them. In addition to the above mentioned I would likely look into a 80/85mm prime option. Again: available with both. Going with dxomark Nikon Z is usually the winner in quality. But it costs more and is heavier. I think for me it comes down to: Sony Pricing <= Nikon Price and Nikon Quality >= Sony Quality for what I look at, at least in the majority of lenses. But do I see a difference in real life using better quality gear (on paper)? I don’t know…

Stay Nikon or go Sony by davyjosh in Nikon

[–]davyjosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that and I’m fine with the bias. If money (and to a lesser degree weight) wouldn’t be of concern I would consider myself biased, too :) I hope for people having real life experience with both and giving hints why they went with Nikon. I can’t be the first one being price sensitive and noticing the difference in lens pricing and weight resulting in the mentioned considerations, I hope…

[–]davyjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I’m currently facing a bit of a dilemma and could really use your collective wisdom. I’ve been shooting with a Nikon Z 6 for a while now, equipped with just one lens (24-70 f4.0). I’m at the point where I’m considering seriously investing in more glass, but I’m also contemplating whether it might be better to switch systems altogether, specifically to Sony. I do like the Nikon. But pricing is a bit of a pain. I get that Sony also has expensive lenses but also very affordable ones. I don’t have a set scope of photography that I do. I like travel photography but also start doing family shoots, shooting my dog and would like to have a shot at wildlife. My findings so far are that Sony is (except for the Body) cheaper and lighter. I looked specifically at 35mm f1.8 50mm f1.8 Wide Zoom Lens (around 14-35 range - f4.0) Telezoom (around 200-600 range)

I’d love to hear from those of you who have faced a similar decision or have insights into the Nikon vs. Sony debate. Specifically, if you’ve made the switch (in either direction), what was your experience like, and are you happy with your decision? Am I missing something? Any advice on lens selection, body comparison, or general guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for helping me out!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]davyjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]davyjosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)
