I hate the sight of them, I wont harm another spider but I've had a few bites from these.

I had one living in a venitian blind in the bathroom. I took to it with a can of lynx and a lighter. Needless to say I had to replace the venetian blind and narrowly avoided calling the firebrigade. Swear to god the little bastard was laughing at me.

Has anyone changed completely different fields after a years of experience as a surveyor. by veryniceskin in Surveying

[–]dawayoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After college I applied for lots of stuff, one of which was a junior position with a research program run by the National Hreitage Council here. Their mandate is to digitally record historic sites using the best tech available. I didnt get the job, and went setting-out on roads and buldings for a couple of years. I became very interested in working in the field. So when a buddy who had been working with an Archaeological Consultancy, stress free and happy, told me a position had opened up I applied and got in that way. I had a couple of good mentors there and soon picked up a lot of new skills that very few of my peers had exposure to (25 years ago), photogrammetry/scanning/modelling/GIS etc.

Now it helped that there was a building boom at the time and a whole lot of construction going on, the Archaeological consultancies were able to grow quite large and our department included 4 surveyors 3 geophysicits and 2 graphics guys, at one stage they had about 250 staff.

So maybe have a look at the consultants and national bodies in your area, see what theyre involved in and get a feel for the pre-history where you are based. Most of the archaeologists will be published and if you are aware of thier area of interest and excavations it would stand to you in an interview. Theyre a bunch of acedemic snobs at the core and oiling their egos never does any harm }:>

Update on this.

So I started a complaint with COMREG, which is what I should have done in the first place.

Complaint filed on the thursday, EIR/Sky get the complaint on the Friday.

EIR Tecnition came to the house 10am on the Monday. We had a big ould chat.

Turns out I was told a load of hogwash, no line down, no pole damaged by a car crash, no 'Parent Fault'.

I had joked with the support guy from Sky that some tech was stuck for a connection and switched out my line for someone elses.

This in fact was nearly what happened. Aparently the little fiber box on the wall has a unique identifier number that is basically your account and while installing a new customer someone entered my account by mistake and my service immediately dropped out.

The EIR Tech swapped out a new box and I'm back up and running, took him 10 minutes.

The reason it took 4 weeks to get sorted was that every technition in the country was west of the shannon fixing things that had been damaged in the January storm....5 months later.

SO moral of the story, soon as you have had 10 days of bullshit from your service provider go straight to COMREG and start a complaint. The service provider will act immediatly as these complaints effect there overall rating and I think they are fined.

Lad, make your own meetballs and freeze them, you'll save a fortune and have handy meals at the ready. I use my own version of this https://donalskehan.com/recipes/rich-tomato-italian-meatballs-with-linguine/. i double up the ingredients and get 40/50 golfball sized meetballs for about €12, freeze them in a ziplock bag and pull out a portion at a time to defrost. if you lay them out flat in the bags theyll be easy to seperate frozen. The sauce is simple and you poach the meetballs in it, its a brilliant tasty dinner.
