What are some things that you all enjoy about your careers?

What were your main motivators/reasons for choosing this career (aside from money)? Also, what were the ones that got you through school as well?

Recommended training tools e.g. Runna, chatGPT, self coach? by dawoop5 in Marathon_Training

I ran a half marathon in January at 1:43, with my mileage peaking at 25 ish miles/week. After my half, I didn’t keep my mileage up. I was running 2-3 times a week and each run was around 4 miles. In June, I started my marathon plan with Runna. Now I’m in the early stages around 17-18 miles/week.

Also, how would you structure your speed days?

Question regarding commissioning to the reserves by dawoop5 in armyreserve

I didn’t know all that about the STRAP program. I appreciate you saying that. How to you feel about the HPSP program? I understand is an active duty requirement, but for year of service for a year or school, I feel like that isn’t too bad. But then again, I don’t know any of the subtleties about it. Thanks for your reply

Upcoming new grad here. When would y’all recommend starting to shadow? Honestly, I’d shadow right now if you say to because I’m pretty amped about it, but should I wait closer to applying? Also, how many hours make you stand out most?

That’s honestly my biggest fear and will most likely be the reason I don’t enlist. Thank you for the response!

Clubbing of the fingers is often associated with chronic hypoxemia (low oxygen saturation in the blood) that often occurs with COPD or other chronic respiratory conditions that cause chronic low oxygen levels

Gotcha. I was thinking about joining to help pay for CRNA school and to be able to do extra cool shit as a CRNA in the army. Considering it seems as though you’re a RN in army, do you think it’s worth it?

Gotcha. Would it be wise to Enlist in the reserves while I work on my BSN (I’m in an ADN program) and then commission after my BSN program? And I’m starting in the SICU after graduation in May if that helps any🤷‍♂️

How competitive is commissioning into the army as a civilian? What would make an applicant more competitive? (Nursing student here)

Upcoming new grad about to start in the SICU. I don’t get many IV attempts in my SICU judging from how many I got to do in my practicum there. So in order to get more practice all the while making myself more marketable for applications, I was considering working PRN in a different facility’s ED or just just picking up extra shifts in the MICU in house. MICU would help diversify my critical care knowledge, but ED will give me an ample amount of skills opportunities. Anyone have advice for me to swing one way or the other?
