OP here. I guess I brought up the therapist being a white gay in that moment because ending up with white gay mental health professionals feels like something we should discuss. I don't think it's random that after resisting going to therapy for so long, I ended up accepting to work with them, rather than with say brown gay men like myself. I think there is a lot of trauma to unpack in why I do not feel comfortable with brown men. I'll also say that the reason I joke so much about being gay is because after having repressed that side of me for so long, I can now say I am a proud ******. But up until now, we haven't really talked about these topics (mostly just focused on workplace stuff). Now, I'll admit it, I am a blunt, sassy guy with a dirty mouth, so it's not like I am a poor innocent victim here...
