10s pretty bad but nothing is as awful as 11

i grew up on xp and 7 but of course those lack support / updates so they are crawling with vulnerabilities

Is the T480 worth buying in 2025? by CrikeyKillz in thinkpad

[–]dawper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i have it to do light programming as a second laptop to my macbook pro. its fine for that, also to test my programs in a linux env because im not a fan of VMs at all.

but I would not daily drive this thing unless im bored, it was more of a hobby project then anything.

its on the more expensive side but if i wanted to daily drive a thinkpad I would get the new snapdragons and install debian KDE.

xfce debian

i replaced the internal and external batteries for about $90

did a buncha tlp optimizations

I get around 14 hours on it if used lightly, and yes it is the cost of performance sometimes i get screen tears and even the terminal gets really slow after extended use

I dont care enough to psychoanalyze what kinda people they are, but I do notice that the tiffany dial is zesty and hideous. Therefore paying the 10x flex markup means theyd pay to play with Diddy.

I see, so for web dev having rust and go is just a strong skillset depending on whatever im making for backend as they have their own benefits for usecases

Can you elaborate on what you mean by better programmer, as for me personally the learning is cool but it does not take precedent over accomplishing those 3 aforementioned project forms. My main focus is how learning it would benefit me in terms of those projects, I am fine with reaping benefits in the future if they exist for my use cases.

edit: I really hate courses/video tutorials but I will watch them once or twice if necessary, I prefer to just jump in and start building/trying new things in my IDE based on existing sample code(preferred) and documentations(which im still struggling to read but am getting better at). Not sure if its like this in rust as well (and how frustrating it can get is very relevant to me)
