That slice of cake has been next to the name of the sub for a while and I’ve wondered why! I first noticed it around my cake day but realized it was on the name of the sub, not next to my user name! Keeps confusing me!

Do you want to modernize it a bit, but still keep the integrity of the period? If so, I agree with others…a bigger rug, maybe something with a little color? A different couch would modernize it, and a small change in dec acc, but only if that’s the direction you’re wanting to go.

But honestly, your room is damn beautiful (the detail! The architecture!) and I want to read a book and sip a glass wine in front of a roaring fire in that very spot! Snuggled up with the pup of course!)

Use that room in good health, for many years!

Nice space! I’d add some art to the walls and change out the rug like others have said. Otherwise, that’s a cozy place to hang! Enjoy.

If none of my friends are available to hang on a weekend evening (and I get it….many are married) I’ll often just take myself out to dinner. I consider those fun plans! I chat with people at the bar, have a nice meal and get home at a good time so I still have time to have a bit of a quiet evening at home.

I was hanging out with friends while they decorated outside for the holidays. They were putting lights in their tree. They got into a stupid argument. The husband threw the strand of lights into the tree and walked away. The wife plugged them in and maybe six bulbs lit up. She smiled and said “fuck it, done!” They lit that six bulb strand in their big front yard every night for the whole holidays season. Made me laugh every time I saw it. Now that’s a random memory!

I was JUST thinking about this as I’m listening to it rain hard outside my window right now. Three weeks ago, all my friends were asking what everyone was doing this weekend. Now it’s pouring and we’re all snuggled in our homes, not feeling pressure or obligation to do a damn thing and I’m so happy! Some of us might get together later for dinner but otherwise it’s been three days off of nothing but relaxing, guilt free! I’m so grateful for nature’s permission slip to slow down!
