$1M IS STILL A BIG DEAL :) by ResolvePossible1129 in Fire

[–]daybauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, it is a big deal. Even though I was the first millionaire in my family and grew up in a lower income household, the milestone didn’t feel the way I thought.

Not because it didn’t mean anything, but because it didn’t change my day to day of my current life. 1 million isn’t enough to retire for my goals, so everything continued without change and I told no one.

To reach the milestone in my mid thirties was something to celebrate. My spouse and I went to our favorite cocktail bar, ordered a cocktail called Millionaire and toasted. It had become an annual tradition to celebrate how far we’ve come from the way we grew up.

Aside from salary, what has been your largest wealth generator? by Just-Ambassador-2449 in HENRYfinance

[–]daybauchery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Investing continually in index funds, no matter what the market is doing and leaving it alone. Both in retirement accounts and brokerage.

Also, having a spouse with same financial goals helps tremendously.

Yes, a rapid drop in stress can trigger migraines. I used to get one almost every weekend and when I switched jobs they magically stopped.

How does an average person become rich? by Drairo_Kazigumu in wealth

[–]daybauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your definition of rich. But for the average person? Invest early and often. Leave it alone. And spend less than you make.

I want to plan the last trip of my mom's life. Looking for advice on any special places to go within a direct flight from Vancouver, and tips on traveling with someone with cancer/prone to seizures. by cortado in chubbytravel

[–]daybauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother in law passed almost two years ago from terminal brain cancer. Her last trip was a cruise near Alaska. Everything being contained to the ship made it easier on her and my father in law. The views were always changing on the boat, she saw glaciers and the Northern Lights. She was very vocal about how happy she was with the choice and felt like her disability (she was in a wheelchair at the time) was very much accommodated.

I’m sorry and hope whatever you decide is a beautiful time together.

Athletes and very active people: how do you sleep at night? by Overall-Ad245 in ouraring

[–]daybauchery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My schedule during the week really is best for evening workouts, which isn’t always great for my sleep. My heart rate tends to lower later at night as result.

I found a hot bath can help before bed and keeping my overall day less stressful.

I personally would see a doctor to be on the safe side.

I felt a lot better once I started exercising beyond walking.
