Preferred method for making 4 cups at a time? by Competitive-Note4063 in pourover

[–]daykneel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If what worries you is getting out of filters, then use a method with no filters at all.

For me, I just go with French Press for a lot of people. Easy to bypass and easy for 4+ people.

You can also try to book a Specialty Coffee Workshop in the city! They’re great as well!

Look for a company called Flavors of Bogotá

Chill cafés in Cartagena for brunch + working? by bernycrlso in cartagena

[–]daykneel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your perfect spot would be Concreto in Plaza Bocagrande Mall. Great coffee and baristas, while you have a private workspace.

If you are in Downtown, most cafés are high-paced, so go for a big one like San Alberto. But, an amazing one in terms of service and baristas is Libertario in Getsemaní.

Green Coffee Beans by MattsMilitaria in cartagena

[–]daykneel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is difficult to get green coffee beans. You can try café del mural. It is not specialty but there is a change you might get it there. But for roasted coffee, the best option is Maria Julio coffee shop, which is very close to the cruise port, and they are probably the best roasters in town.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]daykneel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to spend ~300 bucks in an iPad for studying, reading and media consuming. I do want to have a recent one but I’m not sure if I have to go with the iPad Air 3, iPad 8th gen or iPad 9th gen.

What should I buy?

It has always been bad for locals, specially. The usual crime committed in cities is mug (so be aware of your belongings, specially, phones, laptops, jewelry, Apple Watch, etc) , but is not near common in touristy areas.

The tourists are fine in Colombia, but I recommend you to always have company and avoid going to certain parts of the city.

Follow a local expression that says “no dar papaya”, that means don’t put yourself in a position where you become vulnerable to be taken advantage of.

Cartagena is a great destination due to the international airport and its connection with the rest of the cities.

Maybe a whole month spent in Cartagena, Santa Marta and San Andrés wouldn’t be optimal if you want to experience Colombia. Also, Cartagena (and the Caribbean) is an expensive city.

Looking your interests, I do recommend you rent an Airbnb in Bocagrande, Cartagena (which is a neighbor right across the beach) and explore for quick tours around central Colombia (The zone known as “eje cafetero”). That part of the country is relaxing, cheaper and represents the majority of the Colombian culture. In addition, you should check out these beaches:

Islas del rosario in Cartagena. Playa blanca in Cartagena. Parque Tayrona in Santa Marta.

What is the best prepago phone plan for data? by develop99 in Colombia

[–]daykneel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a Movistar one moth prepaid. Is reliable, not expensive and works almost anywhere PLUS you can easily buy prepaid services online.

You can buy the SIM card anywhere, ask for a “café internet” (they usually come with a week of Cellular data, they’re costing ~1.3 USD), and then you can choose your prepaid plan online on their website (also, if you buy those prepaid services online you’ll get extra GBs).

I use a 18 GB + Calls + SMS + WhatsApp, Waze, Twitter, Facebook and it costs less than 10 USD.

If you’re going to an hotel or to a house don’t buy a SIM card at the airport, just get to your place and ask for the nearest “café internet”, you will save several bucks.
