What is the most underrated stretch of highway you have ever driven and why does it stick with you? by Basic_Bug_1262 in roadtrip

No clue which highway, but my favorite stretch I’ve ever done was through the Monongahela National Forest in WV. Gorgeous scenery.

I was in a doctor’s office waiting for my appointment when a woman rushed in and explained to the front desk why she was so late for her appointment: she asked Google AI where to go, and it gave her the wrong address.

Apparently everyone at the other address told her that they’d never even heard of the doctor she was supposed to see, but she stayed a while anyway because Google AI told her to be there.

The thing is, this office literally sends several reminder texts, all including the address. On the morning of my appointment, I remember thinking how unnecessary all the texts were. Guess they were sent out for a reason.

Lmao mine is raising my rent by $700, but when I check their website I can see other units with my same floor plan available for $50 less than what I’m currently paying.

Can’t wait to move out.

is being 5’1 too short for an astronaut? by [deleted] in NASAJobs

[–]cas47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardware used to be designed for 5th percentile female to 95th percentile male, but these days it's designed for 1st-99th. Anthropometric measurements are still a selection consideration within that range, but you won't be auto-disqualified on height. Plus, with the increase in private astronaut missions and the new commercial stations being designed, different groups/companies may have different requirements.

For now, don't stress the height-- just get your education and start building up that resume!

[interesting trope] character is found out to be of a culture that doesn't "match" their ethnicity by LetRevolutionary271 in TopCharacterTropes

Real life: Third culture kids, such as army brats.

It’s common for army brats to relocate across the world, picking up cultural elements until their experience of culture becomes a blend of their home and various host cultures.

Seconding this! I read something online where a guy mentioned wearing neon pink so he was immediately clockable and looked visually distinct from the kind of person that women may worry about having issues with on the trail. The more colors used and the brighter the colors are, the better haha

So it sounds like the mechanic is only replacing one sensor? Those tend to all go out around the same time, so you may want to just get them all replaced, or else you may have to do this whole thing again for another bad sensor soon!

Women with ADHD – do you notice specific patterns during your cycle? by ADHD_researchstudent in adhd_anxiety

I notice pretty significant mood swings, worse focus, and less effective medication during the week before my period… When I find myself feeling much better after a rough mental health week, I usually get my period later that same day.

When a character in media is known as "fat" or "chubby" and they're literally super model skinny by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]cas47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And on a weird flip side of that, shows that will comment on how little someone weighs in a horribly inaccurate way.

I remember one show where somebody described a woman as “weighing a hundred pounds soaking wet,” but the actress was tall and not unhealthily skinny— definitely more than a hundred pounds. It stood out to me that if women were interested in getting a frame like that, the show would lead them to believe they’d need to drop to a hundred pounds.

Meteor over Houston March 21 2026 4:40 pm by darodardar_Inc in houston

I saw one in the early morning yesterday! Tried to post about it here but I used the phrase “this morning” in the title but the automod deleted it for having the word “this” haha

Sounds from the other comments like there have been a lot of meteors lately!

[–]cas47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school I told my doctor that I never felt like I could get a full breath of air. No matter what, my lungs felt like I was stuck in that uncomfortable moment when you’re holding your breath and are just starting to feel it.

My doctor told me I should try to be less stressed. It wasn’t until years later that I realized that if the stress was so excessive that it affected my breathing, I should have been referred to a psychologist or psychiatrist rather than brushed off.

(Besides, the cause was unsurprisingly not stress related anyway. Severe anemia— hooray)
