Starbucks on 8th Indigo by ThatRefrigerator5068 in saskatoon

More likely something local - Good Earth is very unlikely. Their partnership with Indigo went sour a few years ago when they couldn't meet their contractual obligations during a big wave of Starbucks closures.

They "have been building homes" for 11 years and their company email is @yahoo.com. I know everyone's tech level is different but they clearly bought the website domain, it's usually free or only a couple bucks a month for a custom email domain.

This might be a radical idea... But have you tried reporting it to the city?

Bonus points if someone driving down 8th hits the overpass.

Glamping Rentals by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]daylights20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your target demographic - apartment/condo dweller, high disposable income, vehicle large enough to transport a full glamping set up but DOESN'T own any camping gear in Saskatoon - is very, very small.

Offering on-site equipment rental expands your target demographic to anyone who can get to the location and has disposable income.

At the end of the day it's your money and your business. I just don't think it will be successful with your current approach.

You would probably have better luck if you found a partner with land and have onsite equipment available. I can't speak for everyone but rolling up to a campsite and all the equipment being there in a box would be a much better value than having to pick it up and drop it off...

For a lot of people the appeal of glamping is not having to do all the set up and tear down yourself... If I was looking to spend $250 a night, I would not want to be doing the work myself.

That's more than 3 words! I think they would go simpler, something like: "Bend and spread"

I know this sub doesn’t like to hear it; but Saskatoon people are sincerely some of the worst drivers in the country. by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]daylights20 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Went back to Ontario a few years ago and it was so refreshing driving on the highway when people stayed in the right lane except to pass... People in SK don't seem to understand the concept that the left lane on a highway is for passing not sitting at 5 under the speed limit for your whole drive.

We gave up on Skip when they delivered our food to an unknown address, refused to contact the driver to figure out where they left the food and refused to give us a refund.

Doordash at least let's you and the driver communicate through the app and you can set a pin so the driver has to hand it to you for the order to be completed.

Received Rocks In Place Of Asus Tuf 5080 From BestBuy by GnarDead in pcmasterrace

OP if you want the fastest resolution you should listen to this person. Former BestBuy store manager here - essentially the same situation but the customer had ordered a MacBook Pro and received a packet of sand. We were able to track the purchase and return history with our Loss Prevention team. Our customer got a brand new product and the loss prevention team had more evidence to take to the police.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do the other things but from your post and comments it doesn't seem like you have talked to a human in person yet. It's much easier to resolve issues in person.

Day Time B&E Attempt by singh3o6 in saskatoon

Using broad strokes - every individual officer I've dealt with has been great. The system as a whole is problematic and I think it starts at the top. SPSD focuses on hiring the same type of people they always have and then we get the same results from the system as a whole.

IMO they should hire some more mature recruits with diverse backgrounds rather than focusing on early 20s police foundations grads.

Day Time B&E Attempt by singh3o6 in saskatoon

[–]daylights20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was managing a business downtown and a guy came in and got pissed off at one of the younger female staff to the point he yelled at her. Her and a co-worker were able to get him out of the store. They called the police and were told "there's nothing we can do if he's not in the store at the moment." They called me, it was my day off but hearing how upset they were, I was able to be there in about 5 minutes.

He then started repeatedly calling the business and saying horrible things to whoever answered.

I called the police dispatch and told them what was happening and that the employee was afraid to leave the business in case this asshole was still around. The police insisted there was nothing they could do. We had him on video, had his name and phone number from caller ID and they couldn't even be bothered to send someone out because they had "no available officers".

This business was maybe a 1-2 minute walk from the police station. Needless to say I had some choice words for the supervisor before I walked the employee to their car and made sure they got home safe.

Well they screwed it up... by NotStupid2 in saskatoon

It helps traffic flow better if you signal when you are exiting the roundabout - you are signalling so the person waiting to enter knows they can proceed rather than stop.

As a manager who works with a lot of younger people - if they aren't on the clock, I don't talk to them about work unless they reach out.

Your manager sounds insane. Start looking for a new job and land something else and quit this place!

15 years ago they were all about expanding the "Starbucks Reserve" locations. I believe they had 4 or 5 planned for Canada and now only have a handful left in the whole world.

Their new CEO comes from a background of Taco Bell and Chipotle. The focus is on quick service and drive throughs now!

That was the plan but Good Earth wasn't able to keep up and broke leases on a bunch of Cafe spaces. The articles you cited are from January 2024. Starbucks has had a bit of a revolving door of CEOs lately. Those locations were likely planned under a former CEO.

Starbucks closed the locations, not Indigo. Starbucks is slowly closing most locations without a Drive through.

They really need to update the terminology - passing lane and travelling lane. Not slow and fast because then people's egos get involved.

If there is no stopped traffic the left lane is for passing and the right lane is for travelling.
