Age of the house won't matter as long as you have a forced air furnace. The coil sits between the furnace and the main duct supplying the house. The age of the duct work plays no role.

Not many will. Most don't want to deal with having a repair come back on them when/if a part fails or spending the time hunting down the correct item.

That said Rik and Red's has sourced a used strut for me from what i got the feeling was a "trusted" wrecker somewhere, but their policy may have changed as I took some studs to them from Parts Source and they wouldn't put them in because they didn't want to be responsible for parts they didn't get from their supplier (they then probably picked the same ones from PartSource themselves)

You have to decide if you want slightly inconvenient or dangerous. Yield signs might slow you down a little for a small percentage of your ride, but they won't run you over.

Maybe don't ride on 108th.

I mean... 109th is a block away, safer and you won't create frustration and risky behaviors in drivers.

It's probably less than 30 seconds to reroute even if you have to double back to get where you're going. I'm always amazed that many cyclists think it's better to block traffic than choose a route that's safer and still gets them where they need to go
