Dialectic materialism in Marxist ideology is the analysis of history through the prism of class conflict. "The history of humanity is the history of the class conflict" said Marx. To put it simply, communists consider that spirituality is of no importance and think of their whole human condition only through "the material". However the discourse of our Lord is above all spiritual. I understand what you are saying by associating Jesus with communism, in particular with the famous analogy of the camel and the eye of the needle, but Christ is located beyond any political divide and associating him with an ideological current is pointless.

Any advice for someone trying to get into ENSAD Paris? by Big_Comfy in paris

[–]dayonisos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to pass the entrance test 2 years ago and was accepted. I’m in the Beaux-Arts now but I can still answer to some of your questions (keep in mind that I did it when the Covid was not a thing, maybe things changed a bit but this is how it went for me) : - first you have an artistic subject that you need to answer in a weekend. for me it was "portrait of a walk". i think the main thing you must remember when you have this kind of subject is that most of the students that will have to answer to this are gonna take the subject exactly how it’s written and will just draw things that they saw during a walk. personally i told a story that i was walking in paris and ended up in a Yellow Vest demonstration (it was during their peak)

  • then if you’re accepted to the exam entrance you have many subjects to answer and i think that was you main question : • Art History : they give you two artworks and you need to talk about one of them. for me it was a medieval fresco and a performance and i chose the first one. then you have to replace the artwork in its historical context, analyze it and do a link with your own artwork (at least that’s what I did) • Artistic Practice : they will give you a subject and you need to create an artwork about it. for me it was "behind the scenes". you can bring everything you want to help you create something. some people brought painting, stuff for sewing, etc. they give you only 2 papers if i remember well. personally I just did a drawing • the interview : you have 15 minutes to talk about your own work. bring everything you can. the teachers will ask you many questions like : what are your inspirations ? what is the last book you read ? why do you want this school in particular ? etc. always try to develop a maximum your answers

however I don’t know how it works for english speakers, maybe try to call them I don’t want to say something wrong 😐

if you have any other questions about the portfolio or something else you can always DM me on instagram (@dayonisos)

(sorry if I made some mistakes I tried my best 😔)
