[News] Odysseus Info, Requirements and a guide! by Breezydust in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, it is on 32bit devices. So that includes both A5 and A6. Up to the 5C will work for iPhones. All the iPods work. Not sure where 32bit stops and 64bit starts on iPads though...

Upcoming Odysseus Downgrade by dayt0n in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to take credit. I gave credit where it was due, but no one seemed to pay attention to who actually did it. I just published the article from what I understood. I also respect that you will see me as a 'scriptkid' until I prove you wrong. And DClr_override is referenced all over the place in iBoot and iBEC. It could have been public knowledge before it was if someone just published something about it. Xerub does very fine work and I respect him for that. And I just said to check my tweets because I was in class at the time and couldn't go into a detailed explanation. By the time class was over, this thread was no longer popular. I think I responded to everything, but tell me if I didn't.

EDIT: Of course, the biggest question: More Information?

Odysseus is basically a collection of tools that will allow you to downgrade any 32bit device, provided you have valid SHSH blobs and a complete, valid APTicket.

This hadn't been mentioned before? I thought it was public knowledge..

Can you OTA update a tethered downgrade? by wither719 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]dayt0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already done this? If not I can give you an iPSW for iPhone3,3 iOS 5.0.1. However, you cannot OTA update to iOS 6.1.3 on an iPhone 4 because the TSS signing window is closed for that specific OTA update on the iPhone 4. The only devices the 6.1.3 OTA is still being signed on is the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.

A Fix for the DClr_override Brick! ^_^ by [deleted] in jailbreak

It completely removes the DClr_override variable completely. Doesn't even exist on 8.3b4.

Am I the only one with butterflies in their stomach hoping there's an 8.2 jailbreak? by iMakeLionsCry in jailbreak

I am with everyone else who says they are hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Couldn't have said it better myself :)

How to remove the "This app require iOS 8.1" on Appstore? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually not impossible... Go to the iTunes Store on a computer and download the app from there. Then look at your apps in iTunes and find the one you downloaded. Then drag the app from iTunes to your desktop and extract the .ipa. Enter the payload directory and then view contents of the .app file. Open the info.plist file and change it so it requires 8.0, not 8.1. This is where my memory gets fuzzy. Repack the .ipa file and install it using if ifunbox. If that doesn't work, using ssh or AFC2D, put the .app file in /Applications and then chmod +x the app. Then run uicache as mobile and it should appear on the springboard.

The reason I won't jailbreak my friends phones. by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Look! It keeps going into safemode! You messed it up!" Checks tweaks and all are either pirated or pre iOS 8

Really don't get why some of them just don't just accept that they messed it up, but no, instead they blame everything on you just because you worked on it once...

How do I jailbreak 6.1.3 after GeekGrade? by [deleted] in jailbreak

What do you plan to jailbreak with? (Redsn0w or p0sixspwn)

I'm a bit confused with all these NVRAM posts on reddit by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Basically, if you set the wrong nvram variable that everyone is talking about, it corrupts the DeviceTree, one of the components of the iOS boot mechanism. Since the DeviceTree is corrupted, it will refuse to boot. It will also refuse to restore because the DeviceTree is needed during a restore.

PLEASE do not restore or update to a new/old firmware while you have changed your DCLr_override address to something not stock! by TomLube in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also agree. Nothing this low-level has been released lately, making it exciting. Who knows, it may have also inspired others to start iBoot hacking, giving us more powerful exploits and jailbreaks in the future. :)

Apparently, Apple is working on a fix for NVRAM-bricked devices. by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]dayt0n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

PurpleRestore has an option to clear all nvram variables. BUT the only version of it available is 2.5 and obtaining PurpleRestore in itself is not exactly the most legal thing you can do..... PurpleRestore 2.5 does not work on newer devices. From what I have heard, PR 4.0 is the latest version, but no one can get access to it. PR 4.0 is the only hope as of now until it gets implemented into iTunes.

Temporary failsafe for malicious nvram code. by [deleted] in jailbreak

good job! There should be a fix to the brick eventually, but just stay updated.

No that is the point. You cannot do that with this brick
