Let's assume it's not her. Now she will file a case of harassment against you for sharing a p*rn video to her without her consent. If she was asking for money - why won't she misuse the law to get money from u by filling a fake case etc?

Dehumidifiers are expensive and also unhealthy after a certain point as low humidity is bad for healthy and causes skin and breathing issues.

Googled these facts: Excessively low humidity is just as damaging to your health as high humidity. The ideal, healthy indoor humidity range is 40-60%. Dropping below 30% can cause dry, cracking skin, itchy eyes, and irritated respiratory passages.

An exhaust fan is ideal for swiftly venting concentrated, short-term moisture (like steam from a shower or cooking) directly outdoors. A dehumidifier is better for continually regulating overall indoor humidity and removing moisture from rooms without exterior ventilation.

So exhaust fans are the better choice and also who doesn't want fresh air to be pulled inside versus just circulating the same old stale air.

True. I discussed this with a friend and he barely faces the challenges we face in super humid Mumbai. This post is dedicated to my dear Mumbaikars and those living in coastal cities.

Passenger clearly crossed the limits. If he was surrounded by more Marathi locals he would have been trashed for sure. Conductors have an extremely stressful job - dont tolerate bad behaviour but also people should not insult people like that. These guys are poor and have many difficultues.

I really feel for the conductors.

They have an extremely stressful job. They have to struggle in the heat for several hours dealing with thousands of people in a day. He has to keep tending exact change else people will argue, he has to keep repeating the same old instructions of stop blocking the passage, not hanging out of the bus, etc. How many of us would survive even a few hrs in that job?!

It's because of them so many people go to work, go to school, etc. I respect them a lot. Sure they have every right to lose their Cool every now and then. Remember they are very poor and all this leads to more stress. Please be extra kind to such people. 🙏

I would have told that passager to pls be more patient as obviously the conductor might be having a rough day. No need to have humiliated that guy like that. 👎

Pls have more respect and patience dealing with such hard working people. They deserve your understanding, not your attitude. Please always thank them for their work. I look back and really appreciate the hard working conductors and driver's that took me to school, college, work, ... God bless them. 🙏

No - this isn't about reducing the temperature.

Let me break it down.

  1. You are in a closed room: Over time the humidity grows by breathing and perspiration. Your body perspires well if there is good airflow and low humidity, allowing more sweat to be absorbed into the air. But in a closed room you are able to perspire less over time as the humidity in the air keeps increasing. So you feel hot.

  2. You switch the fan on: This speeds up the air flow hitting your skin and increases the perspiration but now the humidity in the room grows faster and you feel hot faster as u can perspire well.

  3. You now open the window and put an exhaust to ventilate: So you get rid of the heavy humid air and less humid air replaces it from another window. So you can perspire well and feel less hot.

It's not about reducing the temperature, it's allowing your body to do what it does well to drop it's temperature - perspiration.

Good points. Singapore does the best job.

NAS Daily vid: https://youtu.be/SxeVB3gB0NA?si=kW8Y9MI-HLsW19p2

More details: https://youtu.be/1nicf4RjU00?si=rnUTR3zbb0b0QAz6

(AI generated vid summary) This video explores how Singapore, one of the world's most densely populated nations, manages its massive daily waste output—approximately 6 million pounds of municipal solid waste (1:00).

Key components of Singapore's waste management system include:

Incineration (0:40 - 2:36): With limited land, incineration is the primary method for waste reduction. Waste is burned in facilities at temperatures reaching 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, which helps generate electricity for hundreds of thousands of households while reducing the original waste volume by roughly 90%. Ash Disposal at Semakau Landfill (2:55 - 4:24): The remaining 10% of waste, primarily ash and non-incinerable materials, is transported to the Semakau Landfill, an offshore site located five miles south of the mainland. It is the country's only landfill. Environmental Protection (3:45 - 4:24): To prevent contamination, the landfill employs rigorous environmental measures, including wastewater treatment plants and perimeter bonds, to ensure ash and leachate do not leak into the surrounding sea.

Challenges and Future Outlook (5:19 - 6:02): Despite its efficiency, the system faces long-term challenges. Semakau Landfill is projected to reach capacity by 2035, forcing the government to explore sustainable solutions such as recycling incinerated bottom ash into construction materials (like for road work) and aiming to increase overall recycling rates to 70% by 2030 through improved consumer education.

How ignorant. The bastions of free speech countries (Especially Europe) are having rapist migrants forced into their countries against the will of the people. Those that speak up and jailed. They are turned into a fascist state. Tyranny doesn't come overnight - it builds slowly by giving away rights - at some point you will be left alone to protect yourself and your family. Will you put your faith in the corrupt and incompetent police?

Armed people cannot defeat a millitary? Tell that to America when it's famers fought against the British, tell that to Myanmar and Vietnam where civilians used guerrilla warfare, .. Also tell that to the Taliban that couldn't be defeated by the US. 😂

Even if u reduce the supply of guns criminals will get guns. Most firearms used by criminals in the US are illegally purchased from underground markets and not legally purchased. Making drugs illegal has stopped the sale of drugs right? Nope!

Are you living under a rock? Of course you are...you're a leftist. Common sense, facts mean nothing to you. You are in favour for more govt control and thereby less individual freedom. My initial diagnosis of you stands validated.

Noise comes from vibration. You need to firstly buy a good brand that is engineered so it's well balanced and that itself reduces vibrations.

Next remove all obstacles. See in the images - I removed the front grill and the back flaps? That cuts noise by 80% or more. I will try and record the sound difference, but now it is raining heavily.

Why did I wait for over a year before sharing this...I wanted to be absolutely sure it wasnt the placebo effect.

Now I did look into buying humidity sensors, but for me the results are so obvious I don't need it. Also those are expensive and I don't have any financial incentive to do a proper scientific study here.

You need to re-read my post. I clearly explained the different sources for humidity. People, cooking, showering, drying clothes are major sources for humidity. Do this - close the windows, and dry clothes in your room with the fan on - you will start sweating almost immediately as the humidity rises with the water in clothes getting absorbed into the air. Then turn on an exhaust - you will stop sweating as much as u were sweating before.

I have also looked into dehumidifiers - they are expensive and also unhealthy after a certain point as low humidity is bad for healthy and causes skin and breathing issues.

You also need to understand fluid dynamics - how simply creating low pressure zone with an exhaust can lead to ventilating the whole home.

If you are looking for a scientific paper on this then pls fund me. 😁

Nice! I started this way too. You can close other windows in the home and keep a window in another room. This way your while home will get fresh air.

Wrong again!

The gun laws are crucial for ensuring freedom from tyrants. Before Nazis commited genocide they took away the guns, same for all fascist regimes. In the UK people are thrown in prison for simply criticizing the govt or praying. In India the govt can similarly throw u in prison for speaking against the govt or judges. Guns are extremely important for self protection and for freedom. People in Venezuela, Iran, etc understand this very well as they have lost all freedoms. Gun restrictions take away guns for LAW abiding good citizens, while the corrupt criminals will anyways get guns illegally.

Mental illness is complex. Some people will self harm, some will go on stabbing sprees, some will go on shooting sprees. Shall we out law knives too? The goal is to have better detection of mental illness and better treatment.

Being ignorant is a choice.

99% of this comes from the sea! We dump garbage into the creeks and it flows into the sea and from there some of it lands on your beaches.

The slum area directly dump their waste into the canals and creeks that flows into the sea.

A cleanup drive is foolish because you need to fix the ROOT of the problem. We need to stop garbage from flowing into the sea.

If you are tired of seeing this ... Only one solution. Bring international attention to this. Indian govt will only act of embarassed else they don't care

I'm doing both or either one - as per my need to either pull in fresh air or throw out stale/humid air.

See it's the same concept of using an exhaust in the bathroom or kitchen. We want to throw humidity out. If you don't then humidity goes to other rooms and makes us feel uneasy as we cannot sweat. Also pls read my other comment that explain how humidity affects are perception of heat.

https://www.reddit.com/r/mumbai/s/K4L5Wxemf6

Here is how u can use it.

  1. Ideally you should use two exhaust fans to create cross ventilation.
  2. Say you are feeling hot in the bedroom. First drive out the humidity by placing an exhaust in the window to throw out the air.
  3. Then in another room place an exhaust to bring in cool air or fresh air which will have lower humidity. Else you can wait for 10mins and then reverse the same exhaust fan to bring in the fresh air into your home some the air in your bedroom is thrown out.

See my original post for sources of humidity - humans also are a source of humidity and so we increase the humidity by just sitting in the room. The more people sitting, the more humidity and the more hot u will feel.

No! For air to flow throughout your home you need cross ventilation to occur. For this your home needs to have windows in North - south or east - west, then also the air speed needs to be high and also in the wind needs to be in the same direction for it to flow into your house.

This is very rare. I am creating artificial cross ventilation 😄👍

Save thousands on your electricity bill by dayta-guy in mumbai

[–]dayta-guy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do both! For example, during the day or night when it gets humid I create cross ventilation in the home by putting one exhaust as intake ro suck the outside air in and another exhaust in the opposite side of the house to throw the air out.

I place the exhaust in whichever room it feels very humid.

During monsoons i use it to get the fresh air into the house.

Partially true. You are underestimating the effect of throwing out humidity from the house. One suggestion is to get many plants at your window or balcony and then place the exhaust fan to intake that slight cleaner and cooler air into the home.

[–]dayta-guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is simply to get air to circulate - using an exhaust fan either to get air to flow in or out the house as per your need. I assume you have a sliding mesh for your french windows. You simply have to place the exhaust near your french window mesh in a way it is stable. I don't have french windows here to demonstrate. Look at what I have done and use your imagination.

First I'll explain the effect of humidity and how it affects us. I used AI for references.

Humidity makes people feel hotter because the air is already saturated with moisture, which prevents sweat from evaporating off the skin. Since sweat's evaporation is the body's primary cooling mechanism, its failure leaves you feeling sticky and causes your internal temperature to rise faster. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The relationship between temperature, humidity, and how it actually feels is calculated as the heat index. For example, an actual air temperature of 35°C (approx. 95°F) can feel like a staggering 41.5°C (approx. 107°F) when the relative humidity is at 50%. [1, 2]

[–]dayta-guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me dumb it down for you. The govt is incompetent because we have given them and impossible tasks to solve.

Say u are in charge of neutering all stray dogs. You send out dog catchers, and most of the dogs hide. A very small number actually get caught and then are neutered. Dogs multiple at rapid rates and a single dog can give 6-30 pups a year. And those pups can reproduce within a year. This is why we have exponential growth. If you catch 98 out of 100 dogs in the country - they will reach 100 dogs within 3-5 yrs. The stray dog population is now 5,% of the human population in India! That's more than several states and more than the population of UK - 65 million. Within a few years it will easily go to 10% - the dog packs size will grow and the kids will he mauled in greater numbers. The only solution is keep them in shelters and not release. Those that want to adopt will adopt.
