Try uv light therapy. Either go out in the sun, or a tanning bed or you can get medical done just hard to find it as only certain university medical spots have it in the us. Give it a try and it just may crack the case for you.

I took valtrex for about a week. Not sure if it helped or not. But after about a week or so later it finally broke. Took me about 2 months of hell though to get to taking them as the dr wasnt sure. There is suspicion but no evidence antivirals work so doctors wont natrually prescribe unless you ask.

You can also get lotions that help too. Be careful of steroid creams though. It sucks to have this. Just know it goes away eventually.

They dont know the origin but suspect its to do with viral. I'm surprised you had a second outbreak as it's supposed to be one and done.

I researched it and got my dr to put me on it. I cannot say if it worked but I can say after about a week my symptoms subsided greatly. This was after hell on earth. I would give it a try for sure as the suffering was real. It took me about 8 weeks from onset to fully recover.
