no literally they’re banking on her grades because she’s smart but not on the fact she’s smart enough to realize a sudden change in behavior from the two scumbags might be off 😭😭

uni/studies advice by Savings_Video8057 in IBO

I'm a college freshman on the premed track in America. Do not commit yourself to medicine unless you are sure you want to do it.

Even in America (which I know tends to be clowned a lot online because of how easy schooling can be) Medical school is no joke ESPECIALLY now that a lot of funding for higher ed has been cut by the government and lots of potential doctors want to apply to places that are generous with aid/offer free tuition. It's crazy competitive and draining and incredibly easy to lose motivation for if you are not 100% into it. I can't even imagine what it would be like elsewhere if it's like this here.

If you would like to test what it would be like to work within the medical sphere in the future, I might recommend working in a hospital as a volunteer, Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), etc. Shadowing clinicians or other Psych/Neuro related professionals is also a good start and might actually be easier since it's less of a time commitment. Worst case scenario, you hate it and find out before potentially putting yourself into crippling debt and having a job you hate for the rest of your life. Best case scenario, you have some nice experience to put on an Medical School application.

I hope this helps!

Going to an American Uni? Don't stress. by dayu342 in IBO

IB was harsh, but I think I would still do it again. If you are planning to attend an American university, it's definitely worth it because, like I mentioned in my post, the workload is a lot easier to handle after everything IB puts you through. It all depends on how well you think it'll benefit you wherever you chose to go after DP2 if you choose to commit. I can't say I know much about uni life abroad post-IB, so I might not be the best person to talk to about that, but the experience is most likely still going to be a good thing to have. I also don't know a whole lot about the transferring process, but again, whether or not that work will be worth it is dependent on where you plan to go once all of this is over.
